Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant can obtain a Short term Journalists visaby applying to the Comptroller-General of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) office Contact link
2. The Applicant has to approach the Ghana Immigration Service centre and the applicant can get their application form.
3. Fill out the application form and other relevant documents.
4. Applicants are strongly advised to read the attached privacy policy and to complete and sign the Consent Form. Prior to submitting your application at the Ghana Embassy in your home country.
5. If a completed and signed consent form is not included with the application, your application will be rejected, and will be obligated to be returned to you.
6. Pay Visa fees and biometric fee, if required, as per instructions in the application form fee schedule.
7. Visit Ghana Embassy in your country of origin make sure you bring your passport, photographs, completed application forms and all supporting documents as per checklist and application fee instrument. Applicable service charges will be levied. Pay permits fees and biometric fee, if required, as per instructions on the study Guidelines from the Visa Office or website.
8. Please note that when submitting your application form for the Short term Journalists visa, in person or by mail, permit fees must be paid in addition to service charge.
9. If the applicants need to give your biometrics, the Embassy will collect your biometrics at the same time you submit your application.
10. When applying at the Embassy, pay the service charges, submit complete application and obtain a receipt. This receipt contains a unique tracking number which is important as it is required to track the progress of your application online.
11. Short term Journalists visaare processed within seven 30 working days of submission of applications.

• Application form
• Copy of the “Biodata Page” of the applicant’s Passport
• A letter of invitation from local contact(s) in Uganda;
• A letter of introduction from the organisation(s) that journalists work for or represent;
• A copy of itinerary while on duty in Uganda;
• List of equipment accompanying applicant(s);
• Scanned copy of your passport's bio data page (the page with your photo).
• Your profession.
• Estimated date of arrival.
• Payment. Visa Fee (cash only)Paid in advance
• Application form
• A valid Passport.
• Two recent passport photos.
• Visa reference number (from Ghana).
• Letter from employer.

• Visa Fees range from GHS.50,000-100,000 depending on the nationality of the applicant.

Need for the Document

• The Government Press Office in Ghana, which is a part of Ghana State Information Service, is the office responsible for all procedures related to the travel of media delegations to Ghana. Journalists on short-term visits for periods of not more than 6 weeks require NO work permits. However, they will only be accredited for the duration and purpose of their assignment in Egypt.
