Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for new Account with revenue Authority in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Revenue Authority Office.
2. Address and contact details can be found in the following link
3. Applicant must obtain the application form from GRA department.
4. Applicant should fill the all information in the application form
5. Documents that are needed for completing this procedure are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. First of all, applicant needs to put in your request in writing or apply electronically to the Commissioner General to be a Clearing Agent.
7. Secondly, applicant need to go through all the necessary processes put in place by the Authority before approval of your eligibility would be granted.
8. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
9. After payment, the authorities will provide new account to the applicant.
10. The processing time for this procedure is 1 day.

Required Documents

• A certified legible copy of the taxpayers Identity document or Passport document.
• Proof of identity document/passport.
• Proof bank statement with the bank stamp that confirms the account holder's name, account number, account type, and branch code.
• Proof of residential address, e.g municipal account/utility bill of an individual not more than three months old reflecting the name and residential address.

Need for the Document

• A GRA Account is mandatory for all Tax payers in Ghana, the same account is one which can be used for other issues related to taxes. And unlike in the past when things were done the manual way without such a need, currently things changed after the establishment of the e-Tax feature where by unless otherwise, all tax payers are required by laws to have their accounts with GRA.
