Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Hoarding and Scaffolding permit in Ghana, the applicant has to make an application to the International Trade Administration office.

3. To apply for scaffolding or hoarding Permit, the applicant must apply for this permit at least three working days before the applicant want to put up scaffolding or hoarding.
4. Visit the office and obtain the application form.
5. The application should be addressed to the International Trade Administration office in Ghana.
6. Also, make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
7. Attach all the documents with the application letter and submit it to the Director of International Trade Administration.
8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.Please pay as authority’s advice at the time of applying.
9. On the document a sketch must include footway and carriageway widths and details of any highway features which may be affected such as road markings, junctions and traffic lights.
10. Show the proof of payments as indicated on the application form remembers that the cost for each scaffolding or hoarding permit depends on how long the scaffolding or hoarding will be up: payments must be strict paid in the Bank and submit the pay slips from the Bank.
11. The applicant must wait for less than 2 days before a permit is released to the applicant.

Required Documents

• Application form
• ID Proof of the Applicant (PAN/DL/Passport/Bank Passbook)
• Address Proof of the Applicant (DL/ Passport/Bank Passbook)
• Application letter to the Director Physical Planning.
• Document showing that Hoarding shall be painted green and 150mm white strips each corner
• Document showing that Hoarding shall be painted with dull colors preferably dark green, maroon or deep blue.
• Authority to be indemnified from all damages and /or losses to property and lives and the contractor/client shall individually and collectively be responsible for any such occurrence.

Note: Apart from the above listed documents, authorities may ask for additional information or document. Please provide them for smooth processing.

Eligibility

• Any person, company or individual intending to construct a solid construction, and he /she is to put up a perimeter structure around the construction sites to shield public from view and prevent unauthorized access is Eligible for this permit.

Fees

• A licence for: scaffolding is £151 per month. Hoarding is £151 per month.

• To prevent encroachment on public foot ways and ensure public safety. The Authority to Allows for erection of an enclosure to secure a construction site for public safety.
• The purpose of this permit is regulatory and the process of obtaining it is stipulated under the law.

Need for the Document

• A licence allowing scaffolding to be erected on property adjoining a development site.
• It is an offence for anyone to erect, take down, alter or repair a building without separating it from the public highway first. Hoarding (temporary fencing placed around the site/building in question) can be erected to help safeguard and control access to the site.
