Ghana - Apply for a Farmer Based organisation Development Fund (FBODF)

'Step 1 You need to wait and check for an advertisement placed in the national dailies inviting Farmers firms to express their interest in providing services under the Farmer Based organization development Fund program. You will need to check with the (FBODF) secretariat for the guidelines and criteria for the eligibility of your organization and project implementation manual.
Step 2 The next step is to develop well written proposal,clearly expressing your needs and how you can address those needs to the benefit of members of the group and the community as a whole. For more details check the implementation manual from the FBODF secretariat.Or visit the District Director of Agriculture in the selected pilot projects or you can pick the same manual from the District regional directors
Step 3 Submit your Application together with the developed project proposal to the District Steering Committee (DSC) who will evaluate your proposal in a period of less than a month upon receipt.After which the approved proposal are forwarded to FBODF secretariat in Accra in their original copies for further processing.
Step 4 Upon recipient of the Proposal and application Letter at the Farmers Based Organization development Fund Secretariat in Accra, The proposal is scrutinized to confirm that they meet the set standards and guidelines of the Fund. After approval that they have followed the set principals then the proposal is forwarded to AgSSIP coordinator for disbursement of Funds.
Step 5 Before funds are released the Farmers Based organization and the supplier MUST sign a Memorandum of understanding setting out the guarantee period,After sales service etc. The FBO and FBODF will also sign a financing agreement that spells out the respective roles of each organization. The turn-around time for all this is usually two-six months.

All Applications received must be dealt with within one month.

- ix) A recommendation from the District Director of Agriculture.
- x) 3 referees from similar organization

- i)Only Deprived Districts in Ghana are selected for this Funding.
- ii)The funding is for Equipments and in SITU technical training carried out by FBODF.approved organization.
- iii)The funding is aimed to build FBO's capacity to add value to their production.
- iv)The contract sum depends on the volume of work involved and this means there is no Fixed amount to be requested.
- v)The maximum grant for the Equipment is $20,000.
- vi)For EDF beneficiaries they are not required to apply.

Need for the DocumentEdit
The FBODF falls under the agriculture service sub sector investment program (AgSSIP)established by MOFA in response to GOG'S Accelerated agriculture growth and development strategy (AAGDS) and food and agriculture sector development policy (FASDEP).
This Fund is part of an IDA Loan for Agssip project Plus CIDA Fund.It aims to build FBOs capacity and to add value to their production by providing funds and for equipments by technical training in use of equipments and in Business management.
This Fund was set up in Ghana to empower farmers based organization (FBOs)to play a greater role in decision making in Agriculture and community development programs and provide equipment and training for FBOs in order to increase agriculture productivity and incomes,thereby reducing poverty and improve food security in the region.
