Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant who would like to Apply for Transfer of Vehicle Ownership should contact the FDA office in Ghana. contact link
2. Applicant has to approach the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Head Office in Ghana and applicant can get their application form.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. Make all the necessary payments to obtain application forms and all other necessary documents.
5. Applicants are required to completely fill and submit form.
6. Attach the all documents to the forms before submission application to the authority.
7. The applicant should make sure that they are eligible for applying for driver license by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
8. Please make sure that the applicant has all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
9. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees. Fee provided in the “Fees” section of this page.
10. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing the applicant’s application.

Required Documents

The following documents are required for transfer of ownership:

• Notice of transfer
• Ghana Card
• Passport size photo
• PAN or GIR or Form-60/61 of I.T. Department (other than two wheelers).
• Registration Certificate
• Insurance Certificate
• Proof of address (any one of the following):
  • Electoral Roll
  • LIC Policy
  • Passport
  • Pay slip issued by Govt. Office or a Local Body
  • School Certificate
  • Birth Certificate
  • Affidavit sworn by the applicant before an Executive or First Class Judicial Magistrate or Notary public.
• No objection certificate from the Financier if the vehicle held with Hire Purchase
• Valid Tax

Transfer of ownership in case of death of the registered owner

• Registration certificate in original
• Original copy of death certificate of the registered owner along with attested copy.
• Succession Certificate, if any.
• Certificate from local MP, MLA or senior government officers to that effect.
• Affidavit by the applicant to this effect and also from all other legal heirs who may wish to relinquish their right in favour of the applicant.
• Attested copy of address proof of Applicant.
• Attested copies of valid PUCC/Insurance Certificate/PAN Card/Tax Token/Certificate of Fitness.
• Prescribed fee.
• Permits surrender slip issued by STA branch (For commercial vehicles).
• Offer Letter in the name of the heir (For commercial vehicles).
• Any other document that may be required by the Registering Authority.

• Name of the person succeeding to the possession of the vehicle

Need for the Document

• The transfer of ownership of a vehicle is to be applied in the concerned motor vehicle office where the vehicle is registered. If the transfer of ownership in case of death of the registered owner, the application is to be made by the legal heirs of the vehicle with the required set of documents.
