Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Restricted Prospecting License in Ghana, the applicant must go to the Minerals Commission Office. contact link
- Applicant must obtain the application form.
- Complete the application form with appropriate information under the relevant sections. Attest it with the applicant’s signature once completed.
- Once completed filling the application form, make sure that the applicant has attached all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office in 3 copies along with the required documents and make payment of the required processing fees to the MINCOM.
- Every submitted application is usually assigned with an identifying code and registered with date, hour and minute in the priority register dully signed and an acknowledgment copy will be given to the applicant.
- Upon submission and receipt of an application, the MINCOM will notify land owner or occupiers in order to obtain an irrevocable consent to be submitted to MINCOM within 7 days.
- The applicant will be duly informed to effect necessary corrections where applicable within a period of 5 working days; and if no response within the specified period, the application will be rejected without any refund. Where all information has been verified, the MINCOM will input spatial and non- spatial data of the application into its system after which the application is further evaluated and recommended.
- Upon evaluation and recommendation, the applicant is granted a lease, license or permit. Having granted the lease, license or permit, the applicant is expected to pay the Annual Service Fee within two weeks.

- Completed application form
- Certified copies of documents of incorporation that show the applicant is a body incorporated under the companies act, 1963 (Act 179)
- Certified copy of the company’s regulations and details of shareholding and directors
- Specify the size , number of cadastral blocks and the cadastral co-ordinates delineating the area being applied for (site plan)
- Particulars of the qualifications and experience of the technical team in charge of the reconnaissance operations
- Work programme describing the scope and type of the work to be conducted, including the expenditure on reconnaissance
- Particulars of the financial resources available to the applicant for the proposed reconnaissance operations, and
- Provide residence of payment of the applicable fees
- Cadastral search report

EligibilityEdit
- This license may only be granted to a Ghanaian citizen.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old and must be registered by the office of the minerals commission in an area designated for small-scale mining operations.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A mining licence gives the licence holder the sole right to mine for specified minerals.
- Also, mining without licence is illegal and likely to attract a penalty of up to GHs 25,000 per hectare or two years imprisonment or both.
