Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Research and Advocacy Program (GRAP), the applicant has to approach the development of research and advocacy organizations in Ghana. contact link
  2. Then, the applicant can get their application form for Research and Advocacy Program (GRAP).
  3. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
  4. Make sure that his/her have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page. Pay the appropriate fees where the officials would start processing your application.
  6. Attach all the relevant supporting document which include a need based assessment, budgetary financial report, technical assistance grant required, poverty reduction strategy to be used, among others. Additional information can always be annexed or attached to the EOI, but note that the information provided on the standard format should be complete and comprehensive by itself.
  7. Submit the application to Ghana Program Management team (GPMT) secretariat for further processing, MT shortlisted organization sent application format and instructions. Shortlisted organizations are then invited for submission of detailed application. Organization submits application together with required documentations. The completed format should not exceed three (3) pages.
  8. The next step PMT holds meetings with non-selected applicants /on request. And those organizations that are shortlisted will be further -assessment with G-RAP technical advisors, The Programme Management will analyses self-assessment outcome in relation to the submitted information.
  9. Ghana PMT will undertake in-depth analysis of applications and formulates advice for submission to Grant Sub-Committee and Independent assessor. The Independent assessor will evaluates grant proposals and prepares advice for Grant Sub-Committee.
  10. Grants Sub-Committee reviews all information available, selects organization to be funded and levels of grants to be awarded. GSC submits reports to Program Board of directors, Program Board reviews GSC reports and finalizes grant decisions.
  11. Ghana Program Management team (PMT) communicates grant decision to grantees.
  12. Grantee and Programme Management meet on grant decision. Grant Contracts signed and Grantee opens dedicated bank account for receiving Grant.
  13. Generally, the processing time for this procedure takes 2 months.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The Ghana Research and Advocacy program (G-RAP) is a pool funding mechanism to support the institutional development of research and advocacy organization (ROAs) in Ghana. It aims to strengthen the institutional capacity and the Autonomy of Research organizations (RAOs) to engage actively with the Government and civil society in pro-poor process and advocate on behalf of the poor and socially excluded in Ghana Society.
  • The overall purpose of G-RAP is to enhance the capacity of research and advocacy organization (RAOs)to carry out evidenced research and advocacy activities in support of pro-poor and gender balanced policies.


The specific objectives of this program include:

  • Institutional development of established research and advocacy program.
  • Development of additional research and advocacy supported program.
  • Research and advocacy program to gain increased autonomy from government and donors.
  • Local networks and constituencies set up and animated by research and advocacy.

  • The ROAs MUST meet the minimum criteria in order to be selected for this Funding.
  • Ghana based management team is responsible for implementing the Fund on behalf of G-RAP.
  • The organization to be selected must be engaged in Research and advocacy on economic, social and political and security issues.
  • The organization must be in collaboration with Community based organization and local networks in research and advocacy programs.
  • Research organizations must demonstrate gender awareness and pro-poor sensitivity.
