Procedure

Apply In-person

1. To Apply for Feed Warehouse Permit or License in person, the applicant has to approach the Food and drugs authority (FDA) regional office in Accra Contact link

3. Read carefully through the application forms as there contain different section.
4. Please complete each section of this application form as a Word document then submit a printed version of the completed form, along with the supporting documents (listed below) to the FDA regional office or the head office for verification and processing.
5. Pay the processing fees, upon which you will be issued with a receipt.
6. The FDA will dispatch an inspector to the storage facilities for inspection to determine if Good Cold Storage Practices (GCSPs), Good Handling Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices are meet.
7. A copy of the report finding will be given to the applicant and if any modification or upgrading is required, Corrective Action and Preventive Action Report (CAPA) report will be issued and you will be required rectify the problem.
8. Upon successful implementation of the CAPA, a follow-up inspection may be conducted by the inspection team to ascertain the effectiveness of the implementation (where applicable).
9. If the authorized official is satisfied that all the conditions are meet as required for the application, you will be notified of the outcome and issued with the license upon payment of the required fees.
10. If all the requirements have been met, the license process shall be carried out within a period of Twenty (20) working days of the receipt of the application.

• Citizens need to be in possession of a valid national identity card copy.
• Companies need to be in possession of a valid company's registration certificate copy.
• Copy of most recent manufacturing premises license if facility has previously been licensed.
• License fee as stated in the Food and Drugs Authority’s fee schedule.
• Sketch directions to the processing facility, indicating landmarks, if any
• Copy of valid business registration certificate
• Any other documents that may be requested by the FDA

Need for the Document

• Warehouse operators are required to register and obtain licence of processing facilities from the Food and Drugs Authority’s (FDA) after meeting the acceptable standards as set by the FDA.
• The aim of these is to maintain the integrity of the produce for their intended purpose in relation to the Public Health Act, 2012, Act 851.
