Apply In-Person:
- The Cremation of Corpse Permit is issued by the authorities in the Ghana Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Office contact link
- The applicant must obtain the application form from the authorities in the AMA office.
- The application form must be filled with the necessary details.
- The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Payment is made through the approved payment systems in accordance with the gazetted fee.
- A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- The filled application form must be submitted to the authorities in the AMA Office.
- The prescribed fee must be paid by the applicant, and the receipt of payment must be attached with the application form.
- If all the above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the application form will be viewed by concerned authorities and the applicant will be notified regarding their certificate.
- This application will be processed and information will be verified by the AMA office.
- If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
- After seeing this notification, the applicant must go to the AMA office and get the certificate.
- Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 2 weeks.

- A Burial / Disposition Permit must be obtained before any kind of disposition can take place for a body. To obtain a Burial / Disposition Permit, original death documents or required stillbirth documents need to be provided to a hospital administrator.
- Disposition may include traditional / natural / green burials in a cemetery, mausoleum or crypt; or cremation in a crematorium.
