Ghana - Apply for Company Tax Clearance Certificate

Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Company Tax Clearance Certificate in Ghana, the applicant must go to the Ghana Revenue Authority office contact link
- Applicant may apply in writing to the Commissioner-General for a Tax Clearance Certificate.
- The applicant shall state the purpose for which the Tax Clearance Certificate is required.
- Applicant should all the information in the application form.
- Applicant should attach all the relevant documents need to be attached to the application before submission. Documents listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Business Details. This section must be completed for all the applications by sole traders, partners, beneficiaries and investment income earners. (but not salary/wage earners, directors or pensioners)
- A fee has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- Complete the application form and attach the required documents before submission to the revenue officer.
- The Commissioner-General shall issue a Tax Clearance Certificate where the Commissioner, if General is satisfied that the applicant.

EligibilityEdit
- Any Ghanaians above the age of 18 years.
- Tax clearance certificate can be obtained by all the persons liable to pay taxes to the Ghanaian government. These include employees, employers, organizations, sole-proprietors et cetera.
FeesEdit
- A fee has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
ValidityEdit
- A Tax Clearance Certificate is normally valid for a period of 3 months.

- A Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) is documentary evidence issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority to confirm that the taxpayer is up to date with any tax payments and has met all applicable tax obligations at the date of issue.
Information which might helpEdit
The Income Tax Act states that the applicant must provide a valid Tax Clearance Certificate to complete the following transactions:
- To import and clear goods in commercial quantities from a port or a factory in Ghana under the Customs Act, 2015, (Act 891).
- To apply for a license to operate as a custom clearing and forwarding agent, under the Excise Act, 2014 (Act 878).
- To register a title to land and perform other transactions at the Lands Commission.
- To bid for any contracts awarded by Ministries, parastatals, departments and agencies within the government or for any government tenders.
- To enable members of professional bodies to renew their licenses.
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
Other uses for the Tax Clearance Certificate:
- To act as an authorized supplier to the government, some businesses, private or government, may require a TCC to make their authorized supplier list.
- When acquiring a visa, some embassies in Ghana might require the applicant to produce a TCC before a VISA is issued to the applicant, to validate the income he/she declared in his/her visa application.
- To renew a residence or work permit, an expatriate must present a TCC to support their application.
