Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Cleaning of Drains Services in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA). contact link
2. Whether his/her notice a slow drain, sewage leaking up to the applicant’s floor, or an outdoor sign of a problem, contact AMA office for help as soon as possible.
3. Applicants can be obtained the application form from AMA office.
4. Applicant has to enter the name, residential address and postal address and other details.
5. Information related to the AMA office and the License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
6. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
7. There is no fee for this procedure.
8. After seeing the application form, they will send the plumber through the office to the address he/she specified to fulfil his/her request.
9. The plumber will detect the presence of drainage in the applicant’s area and clean it easily.

• A drain cleaner is a chemical based consumer product that unblocks sewer pipes or helps to prevent the occurrence of clogged drains. The term may also refer to the individual who uses performs the activity with chemical drain cleaners or devices known as plumber's snake.

Information which might help

• In august 2016, twelve (12) solid waste collection service providers were assigned, on franchise basis, to collect solid waste and corresponding revenue from premises in fifteen (15) service zones, for five years (September 2016 to August 2021). The number of service providers working in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly have been reduce to five (5) in five (5) service zones as a result of creation of new municipal assemblies from the AMA. The performances of these service providers in their respective service zones were evaluated for the period of January 2021 to April 2021.
