Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Architect Temporary Registration in Ghana, the applicant must go to the ministry of works and housing. Contact link
2. Information related to the MWH office and License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
3. The applicant must obtain the application form to register as an Architect in Ghana.
4. Make sure that the applicant has all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The written application form should be filled with necessary details, and along with the required documents, it should be submitted to the Registrar in Architects office.
6. The prescribed fee must be paid and the receipt must be attached with the application form and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. When you have completed to fill the form in duplicates and the appropriate attachments, you must attach evidence of payment of 1,000,000 shillings. (GRA receipt scanned or delivered) for processing the application.
8. Submit the payment receipt together with the application documents. An application form fee of 10,000 shillings is required.
9. The Registrar shall after receipt of application referred the application to any public authority designated by the Committee for consideration and comments.
10. The Temporary Registration certificate shall be granted subject to such conditions as are relevant to the specified particular types of uses determined by the Committee.
11. A processing time of 30 days is needed to complete the processing of Temporary Registration certificate, after which the applicant will be contacted through a phone call to collect your Temporary Registration certificate.
12. Applicant will be required to carry the applicant’s identification documents when collecting your Temporary Registration certificate.

• Dully filled Application Form.
• A copy of a valid National Identity card.
• A copy of a valid passport.
• Two certified passport photos
• Recommendation letter from your country’s board
• All three sponsors/recommenders MUST sign and stamp on the form.
• Proof of Payment of registration fees
• Copies of certified academic qualification documents.
• Letter of equivalence.
• Certificate of good conduct signed and stamped (for Non-Ghanaians)
• Copy of Current year’s certified practicing certificate from your country’s board (for Non-Ghanaians)
• Copy of certified Registration certificate from your country’s board ( for Non-Ghanaians)
• Letter of Corporate membership.
• Trading Licence certificate attached.
• VAT registration certificate attached.
• Other documents mentioned by the officials.

Eligibility

• The applicant must be a member of the Architects society of Ghana or a corporate architect

Fees

•  Registration fees amounting to the equivalent of one million shillings (1,000,000).
• Temporary Application form fee - (10,000/=).

Validity

• Temporary Registration Certificate is valid only for the projects for which it has been granted usually 1 year.

Need for the Document

• The registration documents prove that the applicant a certified and registered architect as required by Ghana law. Operation as an architect with the relevant registration documents is not encouraged in Ghana.
• Every architect should be registered in Ghana according to the Architects Acts and Legislation.
