Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Approval of Veterinary Laboratory in Ghana, the applicant has to contact/visit the Ghana Veterinary Service offices. Contact link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from Veterinary Service Office.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. The completed form attached to the supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page should be submitted to the MOFA office for consideration.
5. The applicant should then pay the veterinary laboratory inspection fee of GHS.100, 000 through the bank details provided in the “Fees” section below and obtain the payment receipt.
6. Upon paying the veterinary laboratory inspection fee, the applicant should visit the Ghana Veterinary Board office and submit the application file along with the inspection fee payment receipt to the officer at the service desk.
7. The Ghana Veterinary Board officer at the service desk will receive and verify the application to check if all the required supporting documents are provided and the appropriate inspection fee is paid and issue the applicant with the acknowledgment receipt of the application.
8. Then the Ghana Veterinary Board will send their inspection team to the applicant’s veterinary laboratory to inspect the laboratory.
9. The Ghana Veterinary Board’s inspectors will conduct a thorough inspection of the proposed veterinary laboratory and write a report based on the inspection results.
10. Then the inspection report will be submitted to the Ghana Veterinary Board for an internal review.
11. The Ghana Veterinary Board will assess the inspection report and if the board is satisfied that the applicant complies with the standards set out in regulations, the board will advise the applicant to pay the licensing fees of GHS 10,000.
12. Then the applicant should pay the license fee as advised and obtain the payment receipt.
13. After payment of the requisite fee, the board will approve the application and issue the license.
14. The processing time for this procedure takes 7 days.

Eligibility

• Institutions or Individuals wishing to engage in/ run a Veterinary laboratory.

Fees

• Inspection fees for registration of a veterinary laboratory, GHS.100, 000 (one hundred thousand). Paid Once.
• License fees for veterinary laboratory, GHS.10, 000.Paid annually.

Validity

• The license validity is one year and can be renewed thereafter.

Instructions

• A license may be canceled by the Board any time an inspector establishes a breach of any provisions of these Regulations.
• A veterinary clinical center, veterinary hospital, or an ambulatory service that has been licensed to operate shall not be required to make a separate application for its in-house laboratory.
