Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a License or Permit to Manufacture Organic Liquid fertilizer in Ghana the applicant must visit the Pesticide and Fertilizer Regulatory Division of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture Offices to make the application.
  2. The address and contact information for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture Offices can be found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page or through the following Link
  3. Upon visiting the Pesticide and Fertilizer Regulatory Division of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture Offices and the applicant will be given an application form for a permit to Manufacture Organic Liquid Fertilizer by the officers’ present to fill and submit.
  4. The applicant should then complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest the form with your signature once completed.
  5. Submit the duly filled forms and required documents to Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Division officers for review. A list of the required documents can be found in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The application form and dossier content of the product will be reviewed by the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Division Officials and the fertilizer samples will be sent for Bio-efficacy and field trial to prove effectiveness of the product.
  7. The results of the review will then be forwarded to the Fertilizer Technical committee for approval or rejection.
  8. Upon approval, the applicant will be informed accordingly by the Fertilizer Technical committee.
  9. The applicant should then proceed to make the registration fees. The registration fees to be paid are mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
  10. Submit the payment receipt to the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Division officers for processing of the manufacturing license. The applicant will be given a claim receipt by officials to present when collecting their manufacturing license.
  11. When the license is ready the applicant will be contacted through a telephone call or SMS to collect their license.
  12. On the collection date the applicant will have to produce the claim receipt and proof of identification when collecting their license.
  13. The processing time takes a maximum of ten days.

  3. Identification documents of the applicant (Copy of ID. Passport)
  4. Certified copy of a valid National Identity Card (Ghana).
  5. Certified copy of Agrochemical Course Certificate.
  6. Certified copy of the valid trading license
  7. Dossier of the Product
  8. Certificate of Analysis and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  9. Label of the product (s)

EligibilityEdit

Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility of requirements to qualify for a permit/license:

  • Must be aged 18 years and above.
  • Applicant must have an Agrochemical Course Certificate.
  • Must have a Valid Trading License.



FeesEdit

  • Manufacturing Registration is GHS 2,500.00
  • Fertilizer Product Registration is GHS 3,000.00 (per product)
  • Cost of application forms 20.00 each



ValidityEdit

  • The manufacturing license is valid for a period of five years, unless suspended, cancelled or revoked by the Authority.
  • The validity period of registration of the liquid fertilizer is two years.
