Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply For Free Zone Developer’s Licence in person, the applicant must visit the Ghana Free Zones Authority Office.
  2. Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
  3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the Free Zones Authority.
  4. Fill in the application form as prescribed by the Authority. Please give full particulars of the applicant or company applying for the licence.
  5. Provide information on the concept of the proposed Free Zone i.e. the types of activities to be performed in the free zone including physical planning such as industrial buildings, serviced plots, provision of zone security, garbage collection, telephone services, secretarial services, container handling, and fire fighting facilities, landscaping, and street lighting etc.
  6. On the application form give Full particulars of all the directors such as copy of passport, or national identification and residential address for directors of applicant. The names and contact details of the shareholders, the total number and value of shares and percentage of shareholding among the applicants.
  7. Present all the necessary documents such as the land size, capital requirements and expected project expenditure and location of the area applied forand they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
  8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  9. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the GFZB office.
  10. Upon receipt of an application, the Authority shall review the application to ensure that all the relevant documents are available to enable the processing of the application.
  11. Where, upon review of an application under sub-regulation, the Authority finds that the application is incomplete; the Authority shall request the applicant to provide additional information or clarify the information provided.
  12. The Authority shall, within three months after receipt of an application or additional information, investigate and prepare a detailed report in respect of the application to enable the processing of the application.
  13. After considering the application and the report, the Authority may grant the applicant a licence or refuse to grant a licence.

  • A letter from a bank or financial institution attesting to the project sponsors ability to undertake the zone development should be attached.

  • Copy of Certificate to Commence Business
  • Copy of Companies Code
  • Evidence of possession or lease of real property or intent to acquire such property
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with prospective clients
  • Environmental Protection Agency Permit (where necessary)
  • Evidence of Funding/Capital Transfer
  • Proof of payment for Application Fees
  • Tax clearance certificate (where applicable)
  • Any other relevant document
  • Land Title and Site Development Plan of the Free Zone
