Georgia - Obtain a Drivers License

In order to obtain a license an applicant must pass the knowledge and practical road test given by the agency.
Theoretical TestEdit
An applicant must pass the theoretical test given by the agency in order to obtain a driving permit. This document will allow an applicant for a driver's license to operate a vehicle (under supervision) while he/she is trying to learn how to drive. The test is divided into four categories. The test includes illustrated and non-illustrated test topics and each question has 2 to 6 possible answers.
- Gather all documents you will need to submit or present to be able to take the test.
- Complete an application form.
- Submit form along with all other required documents.
- Pay all necessary fees.
Examinees may the test in the following languages: Georgian, Abkhazian, Ossetian, English, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian languages.
Theoretical Test - Per Category
Practical TestEdit
After passing the theoretical test, examinees have the opportunity to take the practical road test. The road test may be taken once in 7 days within the period of 30 days. There is not limit in taking the road test. Other than the mechanical gear box vehicles, it is possible to pass the practical test on automatic gear box vehicles.
When it is impossible for the examinee to pass the test within 30 days, then the examinee has to retake the theoretical test.
Practical test evaluation rule: any examinee is granted 100 points before the test that is reduced depending on the mistakes committed by the applicant while performing certain tasks. Practical test is considered successful if the examinee accumulates no more than 39 error points.
Required DocumentsEdit
Documents an applicant must submit to be allowed to take the theoretical test in:
- Application form (to be completed at the Service Agency);
- Health certificate (form IV 100/a);
- ID Card;
- Receipts confirming the payment of the fee (driving permit test admission fee 40 GEL; driving license fee 15 GEL);
- Auto school attendance paper for relevant vehicles and categories (self-studying is permitted for category A and B vehicles).
For applicants under the age of 17:
- Application form (to be completed at the Service Agency);
- Health certificate (form IV 100/a);
- ID Card;
- Birth certificate - original document (or notary certified copy);
- Parent (or parents notary certified consent);
- Public school or auto school certificate;
- Receipts confirming the payment of the fee (fee for first admission 15 GEL).
For students (aged 18):
- Application form (to be completed at the Service Agency);
- Health certificate (form IV 100/a);
- ID Card (ID card with students status);
- Receipts confirming the payment of the fee (fee for first admission 15 GEL);

Minimum age requirements:
- Candidates are admitted to category A test from the age of 24 (from the age of 21 if a person has already obtained subcategory A1 driving permit for at least 2 years before applying for the mentioned category driving permit)
- Category B from the age of 17
- Category C from the age of 21
- Category D from the age of 24
- Category BE from the age of 18
- Category CE from the age of 21
- Category DE from the age of 24
- Category T from the age of 17
- Category S from the age of 18
- Category Tram from the age of 21
- Subcategory A1 from the age of 17

ValidityEdit
Licenses under the A, B, BE, T S, A1 and B1 category and subcategory driving permits are valid for 15 years, while licenses under the C, CE, D, DE, C1, C1E, D1, D1E and tram categories are valid for 5 years. Validity period for international driving permit is 3 years.
After the validity period the change of driving licenses is not subject to a test but the license holder must present a health certificate (form IV-100/a).
