This procedure explains various ways to Obtain an Immigrant Visa in General Santos.

  1. Prepare the requirements:
    • The letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the petitioning mother with a statement that the application and entry into the General Santos are effected within five years from the date of the birth of the child;
    • The duly accomplished CGAF form : CGAF Application;
    • The photocopy of applicant’s passport bio-page and latest admission with valid authorized stay;
    • The photocopy of the petitioner/immigrant mother’s passport bio-page, visa implementation page and latest admission with valid authorized staty;
    • The Birth Certificate of the child;
    • The BI Clearance Certificate;
    • The original or certified true copy of Bureau of Quarantine Medical Clearances, if applicant is a national of any of the countries listed under Annex “A” of Immigration Operations Order No. SBM-14-059-A Refer Link who arrived in the General Santos on or after June 2014;

  2. Apply for Non-quota immigrant visa
    Visit the BI Main Office Main Office Link, you can get support about application form at the Public Information and Assistance Unit (PIAU) at BI G/F Main Office. Please submit the required documents for pre-screening to the Central Receiving Unit (CRU) to process this transaction and get the Order of Payment Slip (OPS). Please pay the applicable fees then submit copy of Official Receipt. Refer to the Official Receipt for the schedule and venue of the Hearing and Image and Fingerprint Capturing. After attend the Hearing, please proceed to Image and Fingerprint Capturing Counter of the Alien Registration Division (ARD) and submit requirements for ACR I-Card application. Follow the officer’s guide to confirm if visa application is already approved. If approved, submit passport for visa implementation. If the ACR I-Card is approved, claim the ACR I-Card.

Case of a foreign national on the basis of your valid marriage to a Philippine citizen

  1. Prepare the requirements:
    • The Joint letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the applicant and the petitioning Filipino spouse
    • The duly accomplished CGAF CGAF Form;
    • The Marriage Certificate or Marriage Contract;
    • The Birth Certificate or certified true copy of BI-issued Identification Certificate as Filipino citizen of Filipino spouse;
    • The photocopy of passport bio-page and latest admission with valid authorized stay;
    • The valid National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, if application is filed six months or more from the date of first arrival in the Philippines
    • The BI Clearance Certificate;
    • The original or certified true copy of Bureau of Quarantine Medical Clearances, if applicant is a national of any of the countries listed under Annex “A” of Immigration Operations Order No. SBM-14-059-A Refer Link who arrived in the General Santos on or after June 2014;
    • The Additional Information on Applicant’s children (if needed) Refer Link

      The documentary requirements for each Dependent:
    • The duly accomplished CGAF CGAF Form;
    • The photocopy of passport bio-page and latest admission with valid authorized stay;
    • The proof of filiation with the petitioner;
    • The valid NBI Clearance for each dependent 15 years of age or above, if application is filed six months or more from the date of first arrival in the Philippines;
    • The BI Clearance Certificate; and
    • The original or certified true copy of Bureau of Quarantine Medical Clearances, if applicant is a national of any of the countries listed under Annex “A” of Immigration Operations Order No. SBM-14-059-A Refer Link who arrived in the General Santos on or after June 2014.
  2. Apply for Non-quota immigrant visa(probationary)
    Visit the BI Main Office or other suitable Immigration Offices Main Office Link, you can get support about application form at the Public Information and Assistance Unit (PIAU) at BI G/F Main Office. Please submit the required documents for pre-screening to the Central Receiving Unit (CRU) or to the frontline officer or staff of other Immigration Offices able to process this transaction. Follow the officer’s guide to get the Order of Payment Slip (OPS), pay the applicable fees and submit copy of Official Receipt. Attend the hearing and proceed to Image and Fingerprint Capturing Counter of the Alien Registration Division (ARD) and submit your requirements for ACR I-Card application. Natural-born citizen of the General Santos who became naturalized citizen of a foreign countryEdit

    • The Letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the applicant with statements of intent to reside permanently in the General Santos and reason why the applicant overstayed outside the Philippines;
    • The duly accomplished CGAF CGAF Form;
    • The photocopy of passport bio-page, latest admission with valid authorized stay, departure and return to the country/arrival stamp within the 5-year period as a proof of temporary sojourn abroad;
    • The photocopy of proof of payment fore Re-entry Permit to substantiate non-relinquishment of permanent residence;
    • The proof of financial capacity or stable source of income as: Pension or remittances in cases of support from family members abroad; Return of income taxes withheld fro the last taxable period and alpha list duly received by the BIR with the corresponding proof of payment, Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last taxable period and proof of payment; or BIR Certificate of Registration for newly established business;
    • The valid national Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, if application is filed six months or more form the date of first arrival in the Philippines;
    • The BI Clearance Certificate;
    • The original or certified true copy of Bureau of Quarantine Medical Clearances, if applicant is a national of any of the countries listed under Annex “A” of Immigration Operations Order No. SBM-14-059-A Refer Link who arrived in the General Santos on or after June 2014; and
    • The Additional Information on Applicant’s children (if needed) Refer Link.
  2. Apply for Non-quota immigrant Visa

Nationals of a country with diplomatic relation with the PhilippinesEdit

Case of a national of a country which has diplomatic relation with the General Santos and grant the Filipinos the same immigration privileges under the principle of reciprocity which shall not be in excess of fifty of any one nationality or without nationality for any one calendar year

  1. Prepare the requirements:
    • The Letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the applicant stating that he/she is in possession of valid passport (or equivalent document) an visa at the time of filing the application; and does not belong to any class of excludible or deportable foreign nationals enumerated under Sections 29 and 37 of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940; and possesses the qualifications, skills, scientific, educational or technical knowledge which will advance and be beneficial to the national interest of the General Santos or has sufficient capital for a viable and sustainable investment in the Philippines;
    • The duly accomplished CGAF CGAF Application;
    • The photocopy of passport bio-page and latest admission with valid authorized stay;
    • The proof of applicant’s special qualifications like academic degrees, awards, certificates of recognition, and other documents attesting to the applicant’s special qualifications, skills or knowledge, or proof of financial capacity or investment, including but not limited to: Bank certification of inward remittance amounting to at least US $50000 or equivalent in other foreign currency; and Documents evidencing ownership/purchase of a condominium (condominium unit(s) acquired within four years prior to filing the Quota Immigrant Visa may be considered) with a corresponding proof that the amount he/she invested came or was inwardly remitted from foreign sources; and Documents showing ownership of or investment in an existing corporation, enterprise or business concern (shares of stock or other equivalent proof of ownership in a corporation or business concern acquired within four years prior of filing the application may be considered) with a corresponding proof that the amount he/she invested came or was inwardly remitted from foreign sources;
    • The Stamp issued by the Bureau of Quarantine appearing in applicant’s passport or travel document, if required, and a certification form a government health institution that the applicant is physically and mentally fit;
    • The valid national Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, if application is filed six months or more from the date of first arrival in the Philippines;
    • The BI Clearance Certificate;
    • The additional information on applicant’s children (if needed) Refer Link.

      The documentary requirements for each dependent:
    • The duly accomplished CGAF CGAF Form;
    • The photocopy of passport bio-page and latest admission with valid authorized stay;
    • The proof of filiation with the applicant;
    • The Stamp issued by the Bureau of Quarantine appearing in applicant’s passport or travel document, if required, and a certification from a government health institution that the applicant is physically and mentally fit; and
    • The BI Clearance Certificate.

  • The application form is written in English language. Enter legibly all the information required into the appropriate spaces on the form. If the information required is not applicable, please write “N/A”. Do not leave any item blank. The Bureau will not act on application forms that are incomplete and incorrectly accomplished. Your answers must be in English and all entries must be in CAPITAL LETTERS using English characters only. Letters like ñ, é, ü and ç are not recognized by the system. For instance, please enter names like “Muñoz” and “Sémonin” as “Munoz” and “Semonin” respectively.
  • All documents required for submission must be complied with, arranged in the order as listed in the Checklist of Documentary Requirements (CDR), compiled in a legal size (8½ x 14 in.) folder and shall be submitted within the prescribed period, if applicable. Otherwise, your application shall not be accepted.
  • All sworn statements or affidavits must be original notarized.
  • All civil registry documents issued in the General Santos (i.e. Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Death Certificate, etc.) must be original and issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) of the Philippines.
  • All foreign documents must be original and authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post (FSP), which has jurisdiction over the place of issuance, or by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) if said document is issued by the local Embassy in the General Santos with English translation if written in other foreign language.
  • If the application is filed by an authorized representative, attach a photocopy of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Accreditation Identification (ID) Certificate or an original Special Power of Attorney (SPA) for EACH applicant with a photocopy of a valid government-issued ID of attorney-in-fact.
  • The original valid passport of the applicant must be presented to the concerned frontline officer for identification purposes. Thereafter, it shall be returned.
