Apply In Person:
- No Nurse shall be allowed to practice or continue to practice in any year except such a Nurse has paid Licensing fees as prescribed by the Nursing & Midwives Council of Gambia Office, such application should be submitted on time before the lapse of the current license, to allow enough time for the renewal due process to be completed. - The licensee should collect all relevant application forms to be completed for renewing the License to Practice Nursing with respect to the requirement from the relevant department.
- Carefully complete the forms with appropriate information under relevant sections. But don’t forget to attest the forms with your signature once completed.
- Attach all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section, then, submit the form to the relevant authority at the office. Don’t forget to make the stipulated payment as directed by the officials. Please refer to this page’s “Fees” section for more information.
- After you’ve submitted the form, the application, and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
- Next is the verification and validation process by the officials which will determine if your application will be approved or denied.
- Once the verification and validation processes are over and if the application is found sufficient, it will be approved and the officials will proceed to take the required steps to issue the renewed license.
- The Council shall, in the case of refusal of renewing the license, give a reasoned decision and inform the applicant of his right of appeal.
- When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will receive a notification from the office through email or phone call regarding the collection.
- One is required to bring proof of identification and surrender the expired license before being issued the renewed license.
Please Note:
- Any applicant for a practicing nursing license, who is aggrieved by any decision of the Council to refuse to issue the license or to specify any condition therein may appeal against that decision to the Minister in writing and shall be delivered to the Minister not later than 30 days immediately after the day, on which the decision complained of was communicated to the applicant.

- Completed Licensing form.
- Two (2) recent identical colored passport photographs with white backgrounds.
- A copy of the old license is required for renewal
- Photocopies of certificates of registration.
- Photocopy of certificate of attendance for Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPDP).
- Original evidence of Payment of all applicable fees.
- Any other additional supporting documentation as requested by the Authority.

EligibilityEdit
- The individual should be registered with the council and a holder of a practicing license.
- To be of good reputation and commendable conduct.
- To have never been sentenced in a felony or misdemeanor (for a custodial penalty in a crime involving moral turpitude or breach of trust, unless rehabilitated in either case). In short, not to have a criminal record.
FeesEdit
- License MUST be RENEWED every year for GMD300 for nationals and GMD600 for internationals
- Late renewal incurs a charge of D300 for locals and D600 for internationals
ValidityEdit
- The practicing license expiry date is after every 1 year and shall be subjected to renewal, applicant should be submitted on time before the lapse of the current license, to allow enough time for the renewal due process to be completed.
- Failure to renew your license after 6 months will result in the cancellation of your registration status. You will need to begin the registration process all over.
