Procedure

1. To get married civilly, applicants will need to go to the Registrar General's office.
2. Applicants will need to complete an application and submit it together with a copy of their passports.
3. Death certificate must also be submitted if one of the parties lost his or her former spouse. If one of the applicant was formerly married, he or she will also need to submit a copy of his/her divorce certificate.
4. Pay the application fee.

Note: Where a divorce/death certificate is in a language other than English, a certified translation of the document must be provided.

Fees

• If both parties are either citizens of The Gambia or a citizen of Ecowas: D6,500.00
• If one party is either a citizen of The Gambia or a citizen of Ecowas and the other party is neither a Gambian nor a citizen of Ecowas: D15,000.000
• If both parties are neither citizens of The Gambia nor citizens of Ecowas: D20,000

Validity
