  • In order to be eligible to vote in the next national elections in Gabon you should first register for voting.
  • It is of most importance for all Gabonese who carry a national identification card to participate in the election to insure that their voices are heard and to elect the right people for the next period in Gabon and create a democratic rule for their families in Gabon.
  • If you have a national identification card and a Voters card please follow the following steps

For one to register as a voter, he/she must present him/herself, with a national Identity card or a Gabon passport to the registration officer at the center he/she wish to be registered.

However, there are 2 types of Voter Registration
Continuous Voter Registration.
    • This occurs through out the year, unless there is a by-election within a certain area, General Election or Referendum.
    • If a person wants to register as a voter during the Continuous Voter registration period, one must present himself/herself to the District Elections Co-coordinators office; so as to be registered as a voter.
Annual Registration of Voters
  • This is a process whereby the registers are revised and updated.
  • This exercise is done once a year.
  • During this period, registration takes place at the registration centers.
  • During elections the registration centers are converted into polling stations.
  • This exercise is done nationwide.
  • The Annual registration period is usually 30 days.

According to the biometric system, the following information is required;
  • Fingerprints

EligibilityEdit

Citizens turning 18 are automatically included in the voter register. According to the Gabon law, a person shall be qualified to be registered as a voter in
Elections to the National assembly and in the elections of the President if he/she:

  • Is a citizen of Gabon who has attained the age of eighteen years and possesses a National Identity Card or a Gabonese Passport.
  • Has been ordinarily resident in Gabon either

for a period of not less than two year immediately preceding that date or;
for a period of, or periods amounting in the aggregate to, not less than fours years in the eight years immediately preceding that date.
Has for a period amounting in the aggregate to, not less than five months in the twelve months immediately preceding that date, been ordinarily resident in the constituency in which he applies to be registered, or has for such a period or periods carried on business there or, has for such a period or periods been employed there or has for such a period or periods lawfully possessed land or residential buildings there.

InstructionsEdit

You can only participate in elections if you are a registered voter.

  • Registrants must present a national ID card, a birth certificate, or an auxiliary judgement in the place of a birth certificate.
  • Voters must present their voter card and either a national ID card, a passport, or drivers license on election day.
  • You can register as a voter at any designated voter registration within the county assembly ward or the constituency where you wish to vote.
  • It is the responsibility of each registered voter to inspect the register and inform the registration officers of any corrections they wish make in the register of voters on their particulars.
  • You can register as a voter in order to participate in the General Elections (for Presidential, Parliamentary, and Local Authorities), By-elections and Referenda.
  • If a person qualifies to register as a voter and has not done so, the person is automatically nullified in participating in the electoral process.

Need for the DocumentEdit

Registration is the process whereby qualified Gabonese are registered by the Electoral Commission of Gabon as voters. Registering as a voter will give you the opportunity to elect leaders for your country at the national and county levels. You can only participate in elections if you are a registered voter.

It is your right and duty as a responsible citizen to elect your leaders and only registered persons are allowed by law to participate in elections in Egypt. Once a person has been entered into the voters register after registering then that person is deemed to be a legally registered Voter and can participate in elections.
