Gabon - Obtain Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct)

Apply In Person:
- To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Justice – link
- The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- There is no fee for obtaining Police Clearance Certificate.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant has to visit the office to get the clearance certificate.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.
A Certificate of Good Conduct (certificat de bonne vie et moeurs) can be obtained at the Commissariat Central de Libreville for citizens living in Libreville. In other cities it may be obtained at the Commissariat de Police if there is one; if not, it can be obtained at the Prefecture at the place of abode.
