ProcedureEdit

The name change is done either in the notification or application procedure. The name change notification must be in your local register office.

The name change application can be sent to any of the local register office, but applications will no longer be addressed in all councils.

The application / notification forms are available at Forms section or the nearest register office.

In addition, the non-resident Finnish citizens who are domiciled in a country other than Norway, Sweden or Denmark, change of name may be made in Finland.

Anyone who is resident in Finland and who are in the Population Information System, can be changed in Finland's first and last name.

In addition, the non-resident Finnish citizens who are domiciled in a country other than Norway, Sweden or Denmark, change of name may be made in Finland.

The change of name in matters relating to first-degree nimiviranomaisina operate local register offices.

The name change application can be sent to any of the local register office, but the applications will not be addressed by all councils.

Helsinki, Western Uusimaa and Eastern Uusimaa the magistrate english name change applications will be processed in Northern Finland the magistrate Kajaani unit. Helsinki, the magistrate, and the magistrate of Eastern Uusimaa Swedish applications are processed in south-western Finland the magistrate Turku and Western Uusimaa a magistrate Swedish applications for the magistrate Raaseporin unit.

If you are using, or wish to use, a name other than your registered name, there is no legal requirement that you formally change your name. It is, however, recommended that you change your name officially, both for identification and as evidence of your name change.
