Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To register as a Teacher in Fiji, you must visit the Fiji Teachers Registration Authority Board. Contacts
2. There are three options available to register as a teacher in Fiji Island, namely,
   • LATT
   • Provisional Registration
   • Full Registration
   • Institutional Registration
3. The application form must be obtained from the authorities in the FTRA office, or else you can download it from the website. Application Form
4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section.
5. The application form must be filled with the necessary details.
6. The prescribed fee must paid along with the application form.
7. Before submitting the application form, it must be witnessed by the Justice of Peace/Commissioner of Oath/Education Officer, Barrister or Solicitor.
8. The stamp impression of any of these officials must be signed in the application form.
9. The filled application form must be submitted to the officials in the Fiji Teachers Registration Authority Board.
10. The authorities in the FTRA Board will verify the application form.
11. After verifying the details, the applicant will be issued with the
    • FTRA Registration ID
    • “T” Registration Number

Eligibility

• The applicant must have completed Formal Teacher Training Qualification/Education Programme.
• For LATT / Non-Teaching Applicants, the eligibility will be verified by the FTRA Officers.
• Therefore, the applicant must visit the FTRA office before applying for the registration to check the eligibility.

MODE OF FEE PAYMENT:
OFFLINE MODE The FTRA Board allotted few locations to pay the fee for the Registration.
The accepted mode of payment is Bank Draft and Bank Cheque in the name of “Permanent Secretary for Education”.
You can pay the desired fee to the cashier at any of these allocated locations:

• In Fiji Government Schools, namely,

ONLINE MODE

• The FTRA has recently launched temporary online mode of payment for the registration.
• The applicant can make online payments to the given bank details. Also, the payment reference must be sent to 9992332 or [email protected].

Validity

• LATT Registration is valid for 2 years.
• Provisional Registration is valid for 1 year.
• Full Registration is valid for 3 years.

Note:
After the validity period of the registration, the applicant must apply for the renewal in the FTRA Board.

• The applicant must complete one year of Teaching Service to apply for “Full Registration” in Fiji.
• FTRA ID is issued only to the applicant with FTRA Full Registration status.

Need for the Document

• To work as a Teacher in Fiji, the individual must register themselves in the FTRA Board.
• It is a mandatory rule in Fiji.
• Teachers without this registration cannot work in Fiji schools.

Information which might help

• You can submit the application form throughout the year from January 1st to December 31st.
• There is no specific time duration for getting the registration as Teacher in Fiji.

Other uses of the Document/Certificate

• Institutional Registration is applicable for multiple registration under one Institution.
• But individual registration letters will not to be given to the applicants.
• List of selected applicants will be given in single letter will be issued the concerned Institution.
• Also, the Institutional Registration applicants’ will not receive REGISTRATION ID, T-REGISTRATION NUMBER, or FTRA ID Card.
• Because, Institutional Registration is issued for only certain period of time. The duration will be mentioned in the approval letter issued to the Institution.
