Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for a Variation of Determination of Fair Rent, the applicant must visit the Consumer Council of Fiji contact link
2. The application form for this procedure is available in the following application form
3. The applicant can use the above-mentioned application form or they can get the application form from the office.
4. They should fill up the application form with all the necessary information in it.
5. The applicant must make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant must attach the needed documents along with the application form after filling the application form with all the necessary information.
7. Finally, the applicant can submit the application form along with the documents at the office.

9. The fee has to be paid along with the application form while submitting it at the office.
10. Once the fee is paid, a receipt will be provided by the concerned authority to the applicant.
11. The receipt has to be kept safe by the applicant for future use.
12. After the payment is made successfully, the applicant will be informed by the concerned authorities regarding the processing time for getting their document.
13. Later, the applicant will receive a notification via SMS or E-mail regarding the availability of the document.
14. Once the notification is provided, the applicant can visit the office and collect their document.
15. If there is no information regarding the licence is provided, the applicant can visit the office to know the status of their application.

• Name of the Applicant
• Address of the Applicant
• Name and Address of Lessor or his or her agent
• Name and Address of Lessee
• Description of premises comprising dwelling house
• Particulars of any accommodation or services which the Lessee has to share with any other person or persons
• Ground Plan showing size of room or rooms
• What amenities are provided, e.g. kitchen, bathroom etc.
• Rent now paid and since when
• Particulars of any services for which the lessee has to pay which are not included in the rent
• Date and Day of the Application
• Signature of the Applicant

Need for the Document

• The idea of figuring out fair rent is supposed to work equally for the landlord and the tenant. The Act's goal is to ensure that neither the landlord nor the tenant is required to pay a greater rent than the fair rent for the property.
