Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Underwater Surveyor, the applicant must visit the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF). Contact Link
2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities in the MSAF office, or else it can be downloaded from the website. Application Form
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form should be filled with necessary details, and along with the required documents it should be sent via post to the Chief Executive Officer of MSAF Fiji.
5. The CEO will verify the application, and all the documents will be review and inspected by the MSAF authorities too.
6. After complete verification, the applicant will be issued with the Under Water Surveyor status.
7. The fee structure for the Under Water Surveyor application is are given below in the “Fees” section of this page.
8. The processing time for this procedure will be intimated by the authorities in the MSAF office.

• Duly filled Application form link
• PADI dive master license.
• Master Engineer Class 6 Full.
• Report of Assessment and Recommendation from a Gazetted or appointed underwater surveyor on at least 5 ships.
• A valid Medical Fitness Certificate. (From MSAF approved Medical Practitioner) Medical Practitioner list link
• Current Police Certificate.

Eligibility

• To apply for Under Water Surveyor status, the applicant must meet certain eligibility requirements such as:
• Applicant must have PADI Dive master license.
• At least a Master Engineer Class 6 Full license.
• Also, they should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an underwater diver.
  

Fees

• The fee details for the Under Water Surveyor application are:
• Application Fee - $59.25 (VIP)
• Assessment Fee - $169.00 (VIP)
• Issuance Fee - $59.25 (VIP)
  

Validity

The validity of the Under Water Surveyor Status will be mentioned in the approval notice Issued to the applicant.
