Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for the transfer of Motor Vehicle ownership, the applicant must visit the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Fiji. Contacts
2. The “Application for Transfer of Ownership of Motor Vehicle/Trailer” form must be obtained from the authorities in the LTA office, else it can be downloaded from the website. Application Form
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form must be filled with necessary details, and then along with the required documents it should be submitted to the Customer Service Officer – CSO in the LTA office.
5. After verifying the application form, the CSO will update the new owner details in the LTA office system.
6. After few days, the new owner will receive the Vehicle Registration Certificate.
7. The processing time for transferring the ownership of the vehicle will be intimated while applying in the LTA office.

Note: Before transferring the ownership to the other person,

• The Transferee ID should be created in the LTA’s database.
• New buyer to clear all fines.
• Vehicle that is being transferred should not have any current defect.
  • If vehicle has defects, pay the defects, it should be cleared.
  • Financial Interest should be cleared. (If any)

Eligibility

• The owner of the vehicle is eligible to transfer the ownership to the other person.
• Also, they must have a valid vehicle registration to the motor vehicle.

Fees

• Amendment of MVAL – $ 15.00
• Transfer fees - $13. 74
• New Registration certificate - $3.79

Validity

• The validity of the Hire Permit will be mentioned by the authorities in the Road Permit Approval form.
• The applicant must renew at least 28 days before the expiry date of the permit.
