Required DocumentsEdit

  • A properly filled in application in the official form provided by the Immigration Department.
  • A police report for applicant over the age of 18 years from the country of citizenship/residence.
  • Acceptance letter from the institution/s or school/s.
  • For financially sponsored students - a sponsorship letter from the organization or individual sponsor.
  • For self funding students - proof of financial support for duration of stay.
  • A consent letter from the parent of primary and secondary school students.
  • Letter of undertaking from the local guardian and or local sponsor.
  • Proof of financial standings of the local sponsor.
  • The requisite fee.

Applications for Student Permits are submitted to the Permit Section, who is responsible for the processing and issuance of all permits.



Required InformationEdit

  • Name as shown on the birth certificate/passport
  • Gender
  • Date of Birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport Number
  • Addresses
  • Marital status
  • If in a relationship, give details of spouse/partner and all children under the age of 21 years who are applying for permits
  • Residential addresses of the applicant and spouse where they lived for 12 months or more in the last 10 years
  • Name and address of any friends, relatives or contacts in the Fiji Islands
  • Name of School
  • Class/Form
  • Date you intend to start School
  • Who will be your guardian in Fiji
  • Reasons why you chose to study in Fiji



Need for the DocumentEdit

Student Permit is a permit granted under Section 9(2)(d) of the Immigration Act, 2003 allowing individuals to study at local Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Vocational Institutions or Universities in Fiji.

The Permit Section is responsible for the processing and issuance of all permits. There are currently eleven (11) types of entry permits and nine (9) entry permit exemption status.

The section has a staff of seven officers, and six support staff and is based at the ground floor of the new Immigration office at 969 Rodwell Rd, Suva (old Customs office)
