Fiji - Apply for Pilot License

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for Pilot License, the applicant must visit the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF). Contacts Link
- The applicant must submit written application to the Chief Executive Officer in MSAF.
- There are 3 classes of Pilot License, therefore, the applicant must mention the Class of License that they are applying.
- The Pilot License application will be verified by the CEO in MSAF office.
- If the applicant fulfils the complete requirements of the Pilot License, then the CEO will approve the application.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section.
- The processing time for this procedure will be intimated by the authorities in the MSAF office.

EligibilityEdit
- The eligibility requirements for applying to Pilot license will be decided based on classes of Pilot.
CLASS 1 requirements:
- The applicant should have piloted 36 ships of 150 meters or more in Suva Harbour or Lautoka Harbour over a period of 18 months while in possession of a Class II Pilot Licence.
- The applicant should have two references from Class 1 pilot license holders.
- The applicant should have Medical Fitness Certificate, full medical examination tests.
CLASS 2 requirements:
- The applicant should have served as a pilot either in Suva Harbour or Lautoka Harbour for at least 18 months while in possession of a Class III Pilot Licence.
- The applicant should have references from Class 1 pilot license holder.
- The applicant should have Medical Fitness Certificate, full medical examination tests.
CLASS 3 requirements:
- The applicant should have trained to be a pilot under a pilot holding a Class I or Class II licence.
- The applicant should have 2 references from higher authority.
- The applicant should have Medical Fitness Certificate, full medical examination tests.
- The applicant should have at least 30 occasions accompanied by a pilot holding a Class I or Class II licence.

The validity of the license will be printed in the License card issued to the applicant.
