Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for Fiji Citizenship, the applicant must visit the Fiji Immigration Department. Contacts Link
2. The application form should be obtained from the authorities in the Immigration department or else can be downloaded from the website. Application Form
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form should be filled with necessary details, and then it should be submitted along with the required documents to the Director of Immigration Department.
5. After completely verifying the documents, the Immigration Department Officer will grant the citizenship to the applicant.
6. For the complete fee structure of this procedure, refer to the “Fees” section of this page.
7. The processing time for getting the Fiji Citizenship will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

The documents needed are;

• For Registration of minor
  • Completed citizenship application form
  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate
  • Two (2) passport size photo
  • Proof of parents citizenship [parent’s copy of passport, parents birth certificate, parents’ marriage certificate]
  • Fees - $374.00 [application and certificate fees only]
    

• For Registration of spouse [3 years out of 5years]
  • Completed citizenship form
  • Qualifying calculation letter
  • Oath of affirmation of allegiance
  • Complete certificate b
  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate
  • Original or certified marriage certificate
  • Proof of spouse’s citizenship (certified copy of citizenship certificate)

  • Local police report [for applicant residing in Fiji for 12 months or more]
  • Proof of former citizenship [copy of Fiji passport]*

  • Deed of poll (change of name)
  • Two (2) passport size photos
  • Fees - $3209.00 [application/oath/ certificate fees only]
    

• For Late registration [3 years out of 5 years]
  • Completed citizenship form
  • Qualifying calculation letter
  • Oath of affirmation of allegiance

  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate
  • Proof of parents citizenship
  • Two (2) passport size photos
  • Fees: $506-00 [application, oath and citizenship certificate] to be paid upfront
    

• For Application of citizenship by naturalisation [five years out of ten years]
  • Completed citizenship form
  • Qualifying calculation letter
  • Oath of affirmation of allegiance
  • Complete certificate b
  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate
  • Police report from country of origin
  • Local police report medical report
  • Letter of support from referees including id copy
  • Two (2) passport size photos
  • Certified copy of passport
  • Confirmation in writing of your contribution to the country
  • Permit copy fees: $5396.00 [application/oath and certificate fees only]
    

• For spouse/late birth registration and naturalization a $12.00 search fee is required to be paid first before the lodgement of the application.

Eligibility

The individuals are eligible to apply for Fiji Citizenship if they come under any of these categories:

• If born in Fiji. (By Birth)
• If the applicant married any Fijian Citizen. (By Marriage)
• If the applicant lived in Fiji for five years within the last 10 years.
• If the applicants proves that they are of good character, are familiar with the language (English, Fijian or Hindi), and intend to reside in the territory. (By Naturalisation)
• If the applicant is a former Fiji citizen currently residing in other country, and again wants to become a Fijian Citizen are also eligible. (Former Citizen)

• For Registration of minor - $374.00
• For Application of citizenship by naturalisation [five years out of ten years] - $5396.00
• For Late registration [3 years out of 5 years] - $506-00
• For Registration of former citizen - $3209.00
• For Registration of spouse [3 years out of 5years] - $506.00
• For spouse/late birth registration and naturalization - $ 12 (service fee) - Additional
  

Validity

• The Fijian Citizenship is valid forever.
• Unless terminated by the Fijian government, or the individual cancels the citizenship and becomes the citizen of another country.

• Since 2009, the Fijian government allows Dual or Multiple Citizen for its citizen.
