ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Faroe Islands Police – link
  2. The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  8. Also, fingerprints are taken at the police station.
  9. There is no fee for Obtaining a Police Clearance Certificate.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  13. The applicant has to visit the office to get the clearance certificate.
  14. This entire process can be completed within 3 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Local police are housed at police stations in different places of the police district. Police of? cers located there are involved in the same police tasks as at the main station, and citizens can go there during opening hours and report criminal offences, pick up lost property and obtain a copy of their own criminal record.

If you are or were registered with the National Registry of Denmark, you may request a copy of your Danish criminal record in person at any police station or by letter or fax to the Commissioner of Police in Denmark.

Need for the DocumentEdit

A criminal record or penal record (Straffeattest) is available to all persons 15 years of age or over. Individuals in Faroe Islands can obtain a copy of their police record within minutes by requesting one in person at virtually any police station in Faroe Islands. Individuals outside Faroe Islands can obtain a copy free of charge by sending a written request along with their CPR number and a copy of their passport or birth certificate.

Criminal Conviction is defined as: finding of guilt, in which you were put on probation, served a sentence, paid a fine or a combination thereof.

A criminal record issued by the police and provide information about a person's judgments, fines and settlement in terms of offense. A random example. act not to commit a new offense, pay a fine, attend courses on a specific location or to follow a treatment.



Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

Applicants for visas must be of good character. You may have to supply a police certificate (or similar) as evidence of good character, depending on which category you apply under.

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.
