Faroe Islands - Obtain a Visa
ProcedureEdit
- Visa applications should be submitted at a Danish diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate general). You must submit your visa application in person.
- Bring a valid passport or other form of travel document
- Contact or check the embassy's website to find out whether there are any country-specific requirements, and which documentation you need to bring. Foreign Ministry's list of Danish representations abroad
- Pay the application fee.
- Upon submission of the application a stamp indicating that the application is admissible shall be placed in the passport or travel document by the embassy or consulate. This stamp has no legal implications and will be covered by a visa sticker if the visa is granted.
Required DocumentsEdit
- A signed, completed application form
- A passport or other valid travel document. Your passport/travel document must be valid for at least three months after your planned departure date. Moreover, your passport/travel document must have been issued within the past ten years and must have at least two blank pages
- A passport photo measuring 35mm x 45mm. The distance from your chin to the top of your head should measure between 30mm and 36mm. The photograph should bear a close resemblance to your current appearance and you should be facing the camera directly.
- Fingerprints (at the moment, this only applies to applicants who submit their application to a diplomatic mission where the Schengen visa system has been rolled out)
- Payment of visa processing fee (typically 60)
- Relevant documentation, such as information about the reason for the trip, proof that you have available accommodation, proof that you have sufficient means at your disposal to cover your living expenses as well as your travel home.
- Proof that you have travel insurance. The policy must be valid throughout the Schengen region for the entire visa period. Minimum coverage must be 30,000

Most Danish diplomatic missions (embassy or consulate general) normally charge a fee of 60 (about DKK 450).
The individual diplomatic mission can also make further demands such as extra passport photos or duplicate copies of the application.
It will be better if you contact or check the requirements on the website of the diplomatic mission in advance.

Denmark and Faroe Islands
- A visa for Denmark does not give it's holder the right to enter the Faroe Islands unless it is stated in the visa, just as a visa for the Faroe Islands does not give the holder right to enter Denmark, if it is not stated in the visa.
- Visa is required for entering the Faroe Islands regardless of the person having a residence permit in Denmark. Correspondingly, a visa is required when entering Denmark, even though the person has a residence permit in the Faroe Islands.

When a visa is applied for at the Danish Embassy it must be specifically for the Faroe Islands.
The Immigration Office in the Faroe Islands does not administer visas needed for travelling to and from the Faroe Islands.
Inquiries regarding visas for travelling to and from the Faroe Islands can be answered by the Police Headquarters in the Faroe Islands or the Danish Immigration Service. They also provide guidance on how to apply and information on visa regulations.
