Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Renewal for Tea Buyer/Exporter/Importer is done in Ethiopia Coffee and Tea Authority. contact link or the applicant should also approach the Ministry of Agriculture in Ethiopia. location link
2. Applicant has to get the application form to renew the license from the respective office.
3. The applicant must fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
4. Applicant must carry related documents that are necessary for the process to complete.
5. Documents that are necessary for the process to complete are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Applicant has to attach the photocopies along with the application form.
7. Submit the application form to the relevant authority.
8. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority request.
9. Upon the successful registration, the renewal of license will be issued within 30days.

The renewable license validity is for one year.

Need for the Document

• This registration allows a person or institution to engage in the buying, exporting and importing of tea in Ethiopia. One cannot operate the buying, exporting and importing of tea in Ethiopia unless they are registered by the Tea Directorate of the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA)
  • Tea Buyer means a person, company or a firm engaged in acquiring manufactured tea for sale in local or export market, including the export of imported tea.
  • Tea Exporter means a person, a firm, or a corporate body engaged in the business of exporting of tea.
  • Tea Importer means a person, a firm, or a corporate body engaged in the business of importing tea.
• The renewal application allows a person or institution to continue engage in the buying, exporting and importing of tea in Ethiopia.
