Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for investment Permit or License Substitute, the applicant has to approach the Ethiopian Investment Commission link
2. The applicant has to get the application form from the respective officer.
3. The applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the form.
4. Make sure that the applicant has to give the necessary all documents (photocopies and originals) mentioned in “Required Documents” in the section of this page.
5. Applicant should attach the photocopies of the necessary documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting.
6. Fee to Apply for investment Permit or License Substitute is 100 Birr.
7. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed by the applicant properly, then, the permit will be issued to them within 15 days.
8. If the applicant didn’t get the License, they can contact the office for getting information on their application.

Apply Online

1. To Apply for investment Permit or License Substitute, the applicant can the make the application in Ethiopian Investment Commission Online Portal link
2. The applicant has to create an online account and customer profile that enable to access the portal.
3. Click the “Register” button and enter the personal information and register the account. After registering an account, the applicant needs to click “Login” and enter the User ID and password to make the application.
4. Click the service “Investment Permit Substitute” and enter all the necessary details in the application form.
5. The applicant has to upload the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant needs to pay the service fee of 100 birr.
7. After completing the payment review the application and click submit.
8. After Submitting the Service Request Application, the applicant will receive a confirmation email indicating receipt of the application by the staff that will handle the case. The staff who will handle the case will contact the applicant for further information regarding your application.

Note: If the applicant wishes to pause the application request process and continue later, he/she can do so by saving the application as a Draft and Resume it later by clicking on "Draft Applications" menu item.

Required Documents

• Copy of power of attorney
• If the request is to substitute spoiled investment permit, the damaged permit
• If the request is to substitute a lost investment permit, evidence from police attesting such fact
• Four ¾-inches size photographs (of general manager if applicant is a business organization; of the individual investor in other cases) taken within the last six months
