Ethiopia - Apply for Transfer of Vehicle Ownership

Apply In-Person:
- The application form for transfer of vehicle ownership in Ethiopia is available in the offices that are under the functioning of Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority.

- Applicant must make sure to carry all the related documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals).
- Applicant should fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
- Applicant should attach the photocopies of the related documents that are required for the procedure to complete along with the application form before submitting it.
- The fee must be paid as requested by the authorities while submitting the form.
- The application form and the attached documents will be verified by the concerned authorities.
- It takes around 2 days for the procedure to complete and the applicant can get their Vehicle Ownership document.
- If the applicant didn’t get the document within two weeks, then, they can visit the office for getting information on their application.

- If the applicant is already a user, they can login directly with their registered “mobile number” and “password”.
- If the applicant is a new user, then they have to register first before logging in.
- After logging in, the applicant has to choose the service they need and proceed with the application form.
- Applicant must enter all the necessary details on the application form.
- Applicant must upload the digital copies of the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Please Fill the Request Form Properly in order to submit your service request application. Fields marked with ‘astrics (*)’ sign are mandatory information that should be provided by you to process your application by selected service provider.
- If you wish to pause your application request process and continue later, your can do so by saving your application as a Draft and Resume it later from Draft Applications Section.
- After you Submit your Service Request Application, you will be provided with a unique Tracking Number and Service provider branch that will process your service request.
- This information will also be sent to your email address you provided at registration time. With your tracking number, you can follow up the progress of your application on Track My Application Section.
- You can only apply for the Same Service Request once. Only after the completion of existing Service request, you can reapply to the Service again.
- Case worker who handled your service Request may contact you for further information regarding your application.
- You can reply for case worker inquires on Messages Section. Depending on you requested service business process, you may also be asked to fill other forms to process your application further on Correspondence Section.
- For Service requests that requires a physical presence a as a part of business process (Example: Payment, hard print document verifications, Document Pickup), you will be asked to reserve appointment time On Appointment Section.
- Once you complete your reservation, the provider will reserve the time and service counter for you. You can’t change your reservation time, so make sure you will be at reserved service counter before 10 minutes of reservation time.

- TIN certificate for both buyer and seller
- Certificate of incorporation
- Certificate of business registration
Transfer for Individual
- TIN certificate for both buyers and seller
- National identification card for both buyer and seller
- Original registration book (log book)
- If the owner is deceased, then letter of administration is needed
Transfer for Companies
- Copies of certificate of incorporation
- Copies of PIN certificate for both buyer and seller
- Copy of valid insurance cover
- Original registration book (log book)
- If the owner is deceased, then letter of administration is needed
Transfer for Business
- Certificate of business registration
- TIN certificate for both the buyer and the seller

InstructionsEdit
The buyer of a second-hand motor vehicle is expected to apply for transfer of charge of ownership to their name within 14 days of purchase.

Need for the DocumentEdit
Once the car changes ownership both the new owner and old owners have to notify Ethiopia Revenue Authority (ERA) about the transfer of ownership.
