Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Apply for Commercial Registration Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Ethiopian Investment Commission link
2. The applicant has to get the application form for Commercial Registration Certificate from the respective office.
3. The applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the form.
4. Make sure that the applicant has to give the necessary all documents (photocopies and originals) mentioned in “Required Documents” in the section of this page.
5. Applicant should attach the photocopies of the necessary documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting.
6. Fee for this procedure has to pay as per the authority request.
7. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed by the applicant properly, then, the permit will be issued to them within a month.
8. If the applicant didn’t get the License within a month, then, they can reach out to the office for getting information on their application.

Apply Online

1. To Apply for Commercial Registration Certificate, the applicant can make the application in Ethiopian Investment Commission Online Portal link
2. The applicant has to create an online account and customer profile that enable to access the portal.
3. Click the “Register” button and enter the personal information and register the account. After registering an account, the applicant needs to click “Login” and enter the User ID and password to make the application.
4. Click the service “Commercial Registration Certificate” and enter all the necessary details in the application form.
5. The applicant has to upload the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant needs to pay the service fee of 600 birr.
7. After completing the payment review the application and click submit.
8. After Submitting the Service Request Application, the applicant will receive a confirmation email indicating receipt of the application by the staff that will handle the case. The staff who will handle the case will contact the applicant for further information regarding your application.

Note: If the applicant wishes to pause the application request process and continue later, he/she can do so by saving the application as a Draft and Resume it later by clicking on "Draft Applications" menu item.

Required Documents

• A power of attorney given by all of the founders,
• Photocopies of identification card or valid passport of the attorney and the manager and
• The passport size photographs of the manager taken within six months’ time,
• Original copies of memorandum and Article of association,
• Documents evidencing that the foreign nationals are considered as domestic investors or their investment permits and photocopies of pages of their valid passports,
• Certificate of incorporation, originals and authenticated copies of its memorandum and Article of association.
• A notarized minutes of resolution passed by the authorized organ of the jury.

A person of:

• Foreign investors
• Foreign nationals, excluding Ethiopians by birth, taken for domestic investors pursuant to Article 2(5) of the Proclamation
• Domestic investors investing in areas eligible for incentives
• Domestic and foreign investors making investments in partnerships

• Fee for this procedure has to paid as per the authority request.

Validity

• The validity for Commercial Registration Certificate is period of 3years.
