ProcedureEdit

1.At the time of death, report death to the local authorities where the deceased resided and / or where he / she shall be buried, and the local authorities shall issue a confirmation of death;

2.If death occurred in a medical institution ensure that a hospital death certificate is issued before leaving the hospital;

3.To obtain an official death certificate, an applicant must first find out what is required to get the certificate by visiting the civil registration office;

4.Then proceed with organizing required documents.

5.Obtain registration form and complete all required fields on the form and attach copies of required documents on to the completed application form;

6.Submit application to the administrative areas of the Public Registration Office;

1.Any person present at death can report death to the authorities;

2.It is advisable that death certificate be obtained as soon as possible;

3.The applicant must have all information about the deceased;

4.A witness may either be the attending physician or doctor at death time or other witnesses who was present at the time of death;

5.Death abroad should first be registered at the nearby embassy;

1. Name and address of applicant;

2. Name of the deceased;

3. Sex and age at the time of death;

4. Date of birth of the deceased;

5. Place where the deceased passed away;

6. What caused death;

7. Occupation of the deceased at the time of death;

8. Place where the deceased lived and place of origin (where burial is likely to take place)

9. Particulars of parents of the deceased (names of both parents, nationality of both parents, occupation of both parents, residential address of both parent and dates of birth of both parents)

10. Particulars of witnesses at death (name and address, sex and age)

11. Particulars of spouse and dependents left behind (if any)



Need for the DocumentEdit

A death certificate is obtained when a person passes away. In other words it is a legal proof of death of a person. In Eritrea death certificates are issued by the Public Registration Office under the ministry of information through its different administrative areas.
