  • The intending couple appears before a judge, mayor or officer of civil registry with two witnesses of legal age.
  • The judge, mayor or officer of civil registry asks the prospective spouses whether they concent to marry.
  • If both spouses answer in the affirmative the judge, mayor or officer declares them joined in matrimony.
  • The marriage will then be entered in a civil registry.
  • The judge, mayor or officer before whom the marriage is performed shall immediately after its performance make the corresponding entry or certificate with his signature and that of the spouses and witnesses

Because the only language recognized in Equatorial Guinea is French, documents must all be translated into French to be included in an application. Documents are also sent to Equatorial Guinea and Equatoguinean embassies by courier to ensure security, confidentiality, and confirmation of delivery. These costs are known as disbursement fees and are unique to each case; however the total is typically less than $500 Canadian dollars.
