Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Radioactive Materials Disposal Licence in person, the applicant has to approach the Egypt Radio and Television Union (ERTU) Contact link.
2. Information related to the respective authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the applicant form while submitting it at the office.
7. Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections, with respect to the type of license the applicant need. Attest it with the applicant’s signature once completed.
8. Once completed filling the application form, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office.
9. Pay the necessary application fees and licensing fees for obtaining a Radiation Protection Board License.
10. After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for assessment by relevant authorities.
11. An inspection will be conducted at the Board premises to be registered by the technical officers of the Regulatory.
12. Once the review of the Inspection Report is over, if the application is approved, the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the license.
13. When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will receive a formal notification from the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.
14. The processing time for this procedure is within one day.

Eligibility

• Any facility in Egypt, that intends to involve in the process of Radioactive Materials Disposal, can apply.
• Any health facility in Egypt, that has the use of Radiation in its facility, can also apply, when it needs to dispose the radioactive wastes.
• The facility should be in compliance with all the requirements stipulated by the Egypt Radio and Television Union (ERTU) Authority.

Fees

• Application Fee: EGP 100/= and 2% of C.I.F sale price of new equipment
• License Fee: EGP 300/=

Validity

• Validity for the license is one year.

Need for the Document

• Any facility in Egypt that handles and uses Radiation for any of the stipulated purpose, must obtain an authorization from the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) Authority, when it needs to dispose the radioactive wastes.

The licence issued May:

• Be amended at any time on written notice to the holder by the Board, if in its opinion, the amendment is necessary for the purposes of public safety.
• Be suspended or revoked by the Board if the holder fails to comply with the conditions contained in the licence or laid down in the Radiation Protection Act or in any regulations made there under and where a licence is suspended or revoked the holder shall take such steps as may be recommended by the Board to ensure that no radiation hazards occur.
