Egypt - Obtain Radiation Premises Modification Licence

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Obtain Radiation Premises Modification Licence in person, the applicant has to approach the Egypt Radio and Television Union (ERTU) Contact link.
  2. Information related to the respective authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
  3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
  4. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
  5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
  6. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the applicant form while submitting it at the office.
  7. Submit the completed forms along with the supporting documents at the respective office for verification and processing.
  8. Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections, with respect to the type of license he/she need. Attest it with the applicant signature once completed.
  9. Once completed filling the application form, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office.
  10. Pay the necessary application fees and licensing fees for obtaining a Radiation Premises Modification License. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  11. After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for assessment by relevant authorities.
  12. An inspection will be conducted at the premises to be registered by the technical officers of the Regulatory.
  13. Once the review of the Inspection Report is over, if the application is approved, the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the license.
  14. When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will receive a formal notification from the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.
  15. The Processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

InstructionsEdit

  • Contact Office: Radiation Protection Board
  • Resolution Criteria: Recommendations of an inspection report by radiation protection officers
  • On receiving an application for a licence, the Board will, on payment of the prescribed fee, issue to the applicant the appropriate licence.
  • A fee of EGP. 100 is charged on this application to all institutions and persons unless the facility to be modified or is covered by an exemption order.
  • An applicant may appeal against refusal to grant a licence within one month of a notice given to him to that effect.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The purpose of the license is to certify that a new modification of the Radiation Premise meets the Egyptian Radiation Protection Authority.
  • In order to ensure the modification does not compromise the radiation safety standards upon which the radiation facility was licensed, the Radiation Protection Board requires that anybody who intends to modify a radiation facility apply for a premises modification licence.

The licence issued May:

  • Be amended at any time on written notice to the holder by the Board, if in its opinion, the amendment is necessary for the purposes of public safety.
  • Be suspended or revoked by the Board if the holder fails to comply with the conditions contained in the licence or laid down in the Radiation Protection Act or in any regulations made there under and where a licence is suspended or revoked the holder shall take such steps as may be recommended by the Board to ensure that no radiation hazards occur.
