Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Certificate of Approval of Weighing and Measuring (Pattern Approval) in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Industry.

3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all details must be filled in the application form.

6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. Submit the completed forms along with the supporting documents at the respective office.
8. A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
9. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, certificate of approval will be provided within 30 days.
10. Applicant can collect their certificate by visiting the office.
11. If the certificate is not issued within 30 days, applicant can reach out to the office to know status of their application.
12. The processing period may extend depending on the type of instrument that is registered by the applicant.

• ID Proof
• Application letter addressed to the Director and indicating the model number of the equipment being submitted
• The equipment being submitted for approval (where possible).
• When the equipment is imported, certificate of approval/conformity of the equipment from the country of origin issued to the manufacturer of the equipment
• Original technical user/operation manuals/brochures of the equipment being submitted for approval.
• Any other document that the approving authority may reasonably request
