Procedure

Apply In person

1. To Applying for Cancel Gun License in person, the applicant has to approach the ministry of interior affairs in Egypt. Contact link
2. Also refer to the addresses mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this procedure.
3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all details must be filled in the application form.
5. Applicants will be asked to fill only basic information which includes name, age, mobile number, gender, email Id, and also the license number, nearest police station, UIN number (available in employee’s Id card), area within which the license is valid, expiry date of license, and details about the Firearm.
6. After entering all the applicable details, applicant must upload some supporting documents. Refer the “Required Documents” section below.
7. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
8. Applicants should submit the application along with the required documents to cancel the ownership of Firearm license.
9. As per Arms Rule 2016, application form is used for cancellation or removal of Firearm license.
10. If the application and the supporting documents are alright, District Magistrate will approve the application or else District Magistrate can reject the application, send back the application to the applicant.
11. Once the application is processed successfully, the applicant receives an acknowledgement. This acknowledgement contains the application summary and the contact details of the person to be contacted.
12. The entire processing time takes about 45 days. After the time period the applicant will be notified about the completion of processing.
13. The applicant will receive the cancelled Firearm license card in applicant’s email provided. Applicant may download it and take a photocopy of the card.

Required Documents

The documents that are required for the application process are as follows:

• Signature of both seller and buyer
• Passport size copies of the applicant with white background.
• Proof of date of birth
• Identification proof
• PAN card
• Identity card issued to the employee
• Voter ID card
• Passport
• Residence proof
• Electricity bill
• Landline telephone bill
• Rent deed or lease deed or property documents
• Medical certificate about mental health and physical fitness of the applicant with specific mention that the applicant is not dependent on intoxicating or narcotic substances.
• Attested photocopy of the license card of the licensee.

Eligibility

• The eligibility is that the applicant should have a valid firearm license.
• A close relation of the license holder (in case the license holder is deceased).

Fees

• As per Arms Rule 2016, the fee applicable to cancel or remove firearm license is Rupees Five Hundred.

Validity

• Once the applicant receives his/her digitally signed cancelled firearm license, it is valid forever. If the license is needed again, he/she should re-apply for the license again for the firearm.

Need for the Document

• The Firearms Licensing Board's work is to certify suitability of applicants and periodically assess proficiency of firearms holders and issue, cancel, terminate or vary any license or permit issued under the Act.

Information which might help

As per Arms Rule 2016, Unique Identification Number is mandatorily required to obtain a firearm license. Any Arms Licence without the UIN is not a valid licence.
