Procedure

• The application should be submitted to the Nationality Section at Passport, Immigration & Nationality Authority PINA or any of the Egyptian consular missions abroad.
• The applicant should fill a special form to which the following documents are attached :-
• Identification documents proving Egyptian nationality of the applicant. (Birth certificates of the applicant and his father).
• A photocopy of his foreign passport once granted the foreign nationality.
• A photocopy of the identity card and the military service certificate if applying for exemption from the military service as having dual nationality. The approval of the Minister of Interior is granted by issuing a Ministerial Decree within (45) days starting from the application date.
• Unless the applicant requests to keep his nationality, such application shall be deemed as a waiver of the Egyptian nationality.
• In this case, the waiver takes effect from the date of acquiring the foreign nationality. Otherwise, the applicant shall hold both nationalities starting from the date of acquiring his foreign nationality without charging him any fees.

Those who waive the Egyptian nationality are allowed to apply for regaining it within a year from the date of its waiver, upon a decree issued by the Minister of Interior.

Eligibility

Must be a citizen of Egypt by the time you apply to be a foreign citizen and above 18 years of age.

Fees

The application form for acquiring a foreign nationality costs L.E 50.40

Validity

Valid for a period of 10 years and make a renewal.

Instructions

• The application should be submitted to the Nationality Section at Passport, Immigration & Nationality Authority PINA or any of the Egyptian consular missions abroad.
• The applicant should fill a special form to which the following documents are attached :-
  • The or she must prove that all submitted documents are genuine and does not intended to engage in any fraud, deceit or bribery;
  • has never served in armed forces or security forces of a country hostile to or at war with Egypt;
  • he or she is not engaged in any spying work against Egypt;
  • he or she should prove that he / she is above eighteen (18) years at the time of application of age;
  • he/ she does not hold more than one citizenship;
  • the laws of his or her country of origin allows him or her to hold citizenship of that country;
  • he /she is not subjected to deportation order from any territory or any other country;
  • he / she is not sentenced of death or imprisonment exceeding nine (9) months imposed by a competent court;
  • he or she has been residing in Egypt for not less than ten (10) years;
  • he or she has adequate knowledge of the national language (Arabic) or any prescribed vernacular language in Egypt;
  • he or she is not a refugee or diplomat in Egypt;
  • he or she possesses rare skills and capacity for technology that he /she wishes to transfer to Foreign country ;
  • must be ready to take the oath of allegiance; and
  • must be a person of sound mind.

• Birth certificate Identification documents proving Egyptian nationality of the applicant. (Birth certificates of the applicant and his father).
• Valid passport

Need for the Document

Many Egyptian Make simple mistake in acquiring to become foreign nationals when starting to process to be a foreign national. You should consider the approval of the Minister of Interior who will grantee you by issuing a Ministerial Decree within (45) days starting from the application date.
