Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. To apply for Temporary Current Connection, the applicant must approach the Ministry of Electricity and Energy Contact link
2. Applicant approaches the electricity office and the applicant must request a new electricity connection, also, the applicant gets their application form for a new electricity connection.
3. Applicant must make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
4. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
5. Submit the completed form along with documents to section engineer/assistant engineer.
6. All the documents will be verified by the concerned authority. A receipt cum Quotation for Earnest Money will be issued.
7. Technician will inspect the building and the locality to ascertain pole placement.
8. Applicant will get advice for fixing the meter at a convenient place in the ground floor with easy accessibility for inspection. (All storied buildings, irrespective of the number of floors have to provide a place for fixing meters on the ground floor.)
9. Once the applicant completes the required arrangement in the building, the applicant will have to make prescribed charges payable.
10. Once the payment is made, the department authority will do the erection and extension of the electrical supply to the premises. The connection will be provided by fixing the electricity meter after getting the electricity wiring installation has been completed and the tested certificate from the licensed contractor.
11. Respective department engineer will visit the building and inspects the premises for the provided details.
12. After all the successful completion, the consumer will get notice to avail of the supply.
13. The date of availing the temporary supply may be got amended by the consumer, by applying to the authority who has issued the orders before the commencement date indicated in the order. However, any alternate date proposed shall commence within 15 days of the date of the first order.

Eligibility

• The owner of the proposed property for which the supply is required
• If the applicant is not the owner of the premises for which supply is required, then he or she should produce a consent letter from the owner of the premise
• If the owner is not available or not intend to give a consent letter, then the applicant should provide:
  • Proof of his/her being in lawful occupation of the premises.
  • Execute an indemnity bond as required.
  • Acceptances to pay security deposit twice the normal rate.

Fees

• Charge differs from the requirement. So, authorities' estimates will give actual figures for getting connections.

Validity

• The temporary connection will be available as long as the mentioned period by applicant.

Processing Time
