Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. To apply for Rent Contract, the applicant must approach the Ministry of Justice Contact link
2. Applicants must obtain the application form from the authority.
3. Applicant must fill all the details in the application form.
4. Once there make a request for the documentation of the Rental contract. The authorities will ask the applicant to provide some required information and documents so as to make the documentation.
5. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
6. Then the applicant should submit the application form to the respective authority.
7. Now the authorities will verify his/her request and validate the submitted documents.
8. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive communication instructing him to make payment for the application for the authentication of the Rental Contract.
9. Visit the Authentication Department of the Ministry of Justice to make the payment for the authentication of the Rental Contract. The transaction may as well be finished by visiting any the single window branches affiliated to the Ministry of Justice to make the Payment.
10. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
11. After making the payment, submit the receipt to the authorities. The authorities will proceed to print the authenticated contract and hand it over to the applicant.
12. This process usually takes a period of one to two days if everything is in order.

Required Documents

• A government authorized ID proof (voter ID, passport, and driving license)
• Original copy of ownership proof or a copy of the title to the property.
• Two passport size photographs (tenant, landlord, and two witnesses)
• Valid commercial registration, establishment ID and license (for juridical person)
• Valid authorization and power of attorney, in case the signature on the document is based on a power of attorney
• Determination of heirs and letter from the General Authority for Minor Affairs
• Approval of a government entity, a semi-government entity and a non-government entity

Eligibility

which person who qualify this application:

• Both the parties involved (i.e. the tenant and the landlord) can sign the photocopy of the rental agreement.
• Legally the rental agreement original copy will belong to the person who has paid for the stamp duty.
• The one who has purchased the agreement will get to keep the original agreement.

Fees

Applicable fees are as follows:

• Three copies: EGP 100
• Each Party: EGP 50
• Any additional copy: EGP 50

Validity

• The documentation is valid for 12 months only.

• The applicant must be a resident/citizen and registered in authority, and must be verified as being alive.
• The first party could be more than one person, but this cannot be applied to the second party.
• The applicant cannot be repeated with the same identity and the same identity proof data..

Need for the Document

• This document is drafted keeping both parties' interest in consideration and is also regarded as a piece of admissible evidence in the eyes of law. The bottom line of having a rent agreement is to possess a credible address proof and to resolve any conflict in the future related to the same.
• Registered rent agreement is thoroughly verified by the Registrar or Sub Registrar of the office. Admissible in court: As per the Registration Act, 1908, a registered agreement is admissible in a court of law. It also provides a sense of security to the owners.
