Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for Permanent Resident Permit in Egypt is available in the Ministry of Interior affairs. Contact link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. Applicant must provide necessary information in the application form.
4. Make sure that his/her have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page.
6. One should proceed to pay the applicable application fees for the application and attach the proof of payment receipt to the application before submission.
7. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the applicant from while submitting it at the office.
8. If all above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, then the processing time for this procedure takes 2-4 weeks.
9. After payment, proceed to submit the application together with the required documents to the officers.
10. The officer will forward the application to the assessment committee for further verification.

• Current company tax clearance certificate(for existing companies)
• Police clearance report from home country
• Medical report

Eligibility

• Applicant Has resided in Ghana for more than 10 years and can prove that they have made a substantial contribution to the Egypt economy; or
• Applicant Is married to a citizen of Egypt for a minimum of five years and that foreign national:
  • Applicant has resided in Egypt throughout the period of twelve months immediately preceding the date of the application.
  • Applicant has immediately processing the period of the twelve months, resided in Egypt for an aggregate period of not less than two years.
  • Applicant has not been convicted of any offence and sentenced to a period of imprisonment of twelve months or more.
  • Intends to reside permanently in Egypt upon the grant of the status; and
  • Applicants in possession of a valid residence permit on the date of the application.

Fees

• The fee required is 50 EGP.

Validity

• Permanent Resident permit certificate is valid forever.

• Applicant name

• Physical and contact address in Ghana
• Age, sex and marital status
• Nationality of applicant
• Details of any other persons included on application (Spouse or dependents, if any)
• Police clearance information ( from domicile country)

Need for the Document

• Permanent Residence may be granted to a foreign national to remain in Egypt for an indefinite period. Indefinite Residence also allows a person to enter and leave Egypt without limitation and to engage in work either as a self-employed or an employee without the need to obtain a work permit.

Information which might help

• Permanent resident application forms are obtainable free of charge at the Immigration Services office. The form requires three classes of information; Company, Employee and Employment contract details.
• Relevant and accurate information must be provided in all sections to enable the department to effectively assess and the application on its own merits and take appropriate decision.
• The application forms should be signed by an authorized representative of the employer.
• The person who signs the application must attach relevant documents as proof that he is an officer of the company (passport, a copy of residence permit etc.

• Permanent resident permit can be used as proof of obtain a work permit.
• The document can be required as a prerequisite when applying for citizenship.
• The document can be used for identification purposes.
