Apply In person

  1. To Apply for Passport in Egypt, the applicant has to approach theU.S. Embassy in Egypt. Contact link
  2. Also refer to the addresses mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this procedure.
  3. Then, the applicant must obtain the application form from U.S. Embassy office.
  4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all details must be filled in the application form.
  5. Documents that are needed for this procedure are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  7. Submit the completed forms along with the supporting documents at the respective office for verification and processing.
  8. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the U.S. Embassy office.
  9. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
  10. After getting the notification from concerned authorities, applicant can visit the office to collect their passport.
  11. If there is no information regarding the application, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of the application.
  12. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 3 months.

EligibilityEdit

  • Egypt citizenship may be obtained:
    • By birth (where either parent or grandparent is a Ghanaian citizen)
    • By virtue of marriage
    • By applying for naturalization



FeesEdit

  • Fees are 170 EGP for New Passports, 210 EGP for lost/stolen passports.

  • Passport Validity for 10 years.

  • An Egyptian passport is the only reliable and universally accepted travel and identification document for Egypt citizens who travel abroad.



Required InformationEdit

  • Applicant's complete name
  • Applicant's maiden name, if applicable
  • Profession or occupation:Examples: Teacher, doctor, public/civil servant etc.
  • Please do not put the applicant title like, AL haji, Reverend Etc.
  • Social Security Number, if you have one
  • Last educational institution attended



Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A passport is a document, issued by the Egypt government. It certifies the identity and nationality of the holder for travel abroad. It contains information about the holder; like name, gender, date and place of birth.



Information which might helpEdit

  • If the applicant has used-up all the pages of the applicant’s passport and damaged the applicant passport, the applicant may request for a new passport to be issued. Attach the old passport when you apply for a new one. In case of a damaged passport with valid visa, apply for a new passport and then to the Embassy concerned for a replacement visa.
  • Change of Name/Status of a holder of a passport can only be applied in the Passport Office by the director of Passports. Do no tamper with the applicant’s passport or insert the names of the applicant children yourself.
