Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Mining Permit or License, the applicant must approach the Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources. contact link
- The applicant can collect the application Form from the office of the Ministry of the Interior.
- Fill the forms with the right information to facilitate the process.
- Fill in all the necessary details in the application and submit with supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- The Commission will review the application and all submitted documents. This process takes averagely 2 to 3 months. Once the applicant meets all the requirements, the Commission will issue an invoice for the license fee to be paid. After payment is done, the Commission will proceed to issue the license accordingly.
- The process takes two to three months. This is usually the case when applicants present all the documents the right way.
- If an application is rejected, the license fee shall be refunded back to the applicant.
- On scrutinizing the application if the issuing officer is satisfied he shall grant the license to the applicant.

- Two (2) Passport Size Photo
- GRA registration documents

- Only companies incorporated in Ghana are granted rights to undertake reconnaissance, exploration or mining operations.
- Non-citizens may apply for a mineral right in respect of industrial minerals if the proposed investment in mineral operations is above $ 10 million.

- The applicant can consult the concerned authority for fees details.
ValidityEdit
- An applicant can apply for restricted prospecting licence which is valid for 3years. A prospecting licence shall be granted for an initial period not exceeding three years.

- When a Prospecting Licence holder has identified a mineral deposit that he/she is interested in, he/she appoints an agent or an Approved Prospector to peg on his behalf.
- The agent is required to physically peg the area by marking the deposit with a Discovery Peg.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A mining licence gives the licence holder the sole right to mine for specified minerals. The applicant needs to show identification of a mineral resource before applying for a mining licence.
