Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. To Apply for Funeral Expenses Disbursement in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

3. In the case where the death of an individual has death occurred in a hospital or a medical practitioner has confirmed the cause of death. One should request to be issued the register of death Form by the medical practitioner or hospital.
4. The medical practitioner/ hospital complete Form Register of Death in triplicate outlining the particulars in relation to the death.
5. To obtain a disposal permit (burial or cremation) this certificate in duplicate must be taken to the local district registrar’s office.
6. Visit your local district registrar’s office of where the death occurred and present the cause of death certificate to make the application.
7. Applicant will be required to produce the National Identification Card or Birth Certificate of the deceased to the registrar’s office.
8. Make sure that all the documents in the “Required Documents” section of this page are available.
9. No fees associate with the service.
10. Complete the application with respect to the requirement by providing the necessary details and information.
11. Complete the application as per convenience, attest it with signature and attach the required documents with the application form.
12. Upon submission of Form 6 together with the required documents to the registrar’s office the applicant will be issued with a Funeral Expenses Disbursement.

Eligibility

• This scheme provides benefits for the funeral of a member or a pensioner, as well as for the funeral of a spouse or eligible child of a member or pensioner. For a member, pensioner or spouse, the fund pays a taxable amount of EGP 20,000 to EGP 40,000 towards the funeral costs.
  

Fees

• No fees associate with the service.

Validity

• This permit is valid until the burial takes place. Then it loses its validity.

• Gender
• Age of deceased (years and months)
• Occupation
• Exact place of death
• Normal place of residence
• Cause of death (immediate cause)

Need for the Document

• Funeral benefit, which ranges from EGP 20,000 to EGP 40,000, is granted to whoever defrayed the cost of funeral expenses of the deceased SSS member, permanent total disability pensioner, or retirement pensioner.

• Funeral Expenses: An amount of EGP 20,000 to EGP 40,000 is payable to the dependents or to the person who performs last rites from day one of entering insurable employment.
