Apply In-Person:
- To First Time Undergraduate HELB Loan Application in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Education Authority. Contact link
- Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
- Print two copies of the duly filled Loan Application Form.
- Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all details must be filled in the application form.
- Have the form appropriately filled, signed and stamped by the relevant authorities and guarantors (for first time applicants only) and by the Dean (for subsequent applicants)
- Sign the form and attach all the necessary documents as indicated in the checklist appearing on the last page of the Loan Application Form.
- The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Present the two copies of the Loan Application Form to one of the listed banks that you have opened an account with, for verification and insertion of your bank account details.
- Present one copy of the duly completed Loan Application Form and all the attached supporting documents at the respective office.
- Retain one copy of the duly filled loan application form Remember: The HELB Loan Application process is free. Do not pay anyone to process for HELB Loan.
- HELB will credit his/her HELB bank account before the beginning of each semester. HELB applicants are advised to provide HELB bank details of one of the following banks: National Bank of Egypt, Egypt Commercial Bank, Cooperative Bank of Egypt, Egypt Post Office Savings Bank (Postbank), Equity Bank.
- A fee for this procedure is free of charge.
- The Processing time for this procedure is 2 month.

- A copy of the Applicant’s national ID Card
- Copies of the parents’ National ID Cards/death certificate where the parent is deceased
- Copies of both guarantors’ National ID Card
- A copy of the applicant’s admission letter and KCSE result slip/certificate
- A copy of the applicant’s Bank ATM/Bank card (for Government sponsored students only)
- A copy of the applicant’s Smart Card from the institution
- One recent colored passport size photograph of the applicant.

- The purpose of the Higher Education Loans Board of Egypt (HELB) is to help those looking to attend college or university, by providing financing in the form of affordable loans and scholarships.
Information which might helpEdit
Undergraduate loan repayment starts within one year of completion of studies or within such a period as the Board decides to recall the loan, whichever is earlier. However, one can make voluntary payments before or after completion of studies to reduce the loan balance. HELB UG Loans are charged 4% interest per annum and is repayable up to a maximum of 120 months.
