Ecuador - Convert or Exchange Foreign Driver License

There are 2 ways through which you can exchnage your foregiin driver license to Ecuador driver license.

Apply through ANT office
Applying through ANT office is the easiest and cheaper way to convert your foregin driver license to Ecuador driver license.

Before you start your joureny to Ecuador, collect your driver history report from your home country, and get it transulated to Spanish which is a requirement for converting your driver license.
The driver history must then be notarized and apostilled.
Fill in the Application Forms and submit with all the documents that is mentioned under "Required Documents".
You have to get your application approved, this might take a week or more.
Once your application is approved, you will be requested to take the following test that is listed down in the link with the fees related to it : Basic Test (Link in Spanish)
When you have passed all the tests you will need to pay for your license. ProduBanco, Banco de Pacifico and (I believe) even Correos del Ecuador accept payments. Cost: $38.
Next you would be requested to take a writen test which is in Spanish, but upon your request these questions can also be provided in English. Please take few practise test before appearing for the real test which will give you an understanding of what you would be going through.
If you are successful with all the above, you will be provided with a Ecuador driver license.

Apply through Driving Schools

You can also approach a authorised driving school, who can provide you with a driving course and get you a driver license.
This course is normally 2 weeks long and in somecases they do weekend course which lasts for a month.

Obtain a driver history details from your home country where your driver licesne belong to and get it translated to Spanish.
Cdula
Certificado de votacin
Copy of your passport and visa page
Copy of your censo (if you have one)
Original and copy of your foreign drivers license
Your translated, notarized, apostilled driving history
Blood type card (you can get this at the Cruz Roja or other clinics approved by the Direccin de Transito)
Two recent photos "carn" size (just smaller than a passport photo)
